I hate American Dad but they get props for bringing MMJ more fans. I dunno about some of you guys but I like when I can talk to somebody about my favorite bands somewhere other than the internet and that only happens when they get major exposure. :(

I didn't know them before american dad (which i consider my self a fan)! I used to live in the U.S. 2001-2003, Moonspell was pretty unknowen there, but after 2003, american's started recognize them, and now i think they are well known (in that style of course) I was very pissed they weren't MY band anymore! but after a while i felt happy for them that they are getting what they deserve. so i think its most DUMB to think a band shouldn't be recognized, specitaly from a show who's followers are usually not stupid. MMJ had a chance to be heard, and be heard off the right place, it would be much worse if they became famouse 'cause MTV did something on them ... i haven't listend to them much yet ... just several songs ... but i feel i would be listening to them in certain moods. ok I lost where i was going with this... just if you feel bad that "your" band is exposed to the alien, go Fugh yourself. any one, anywhere is free to listen to what ever that exhilarate them.

Listen to all of their albums and tell me that Evil Urges is a weird detour; Jim James is weird and so is Louisville so you have to expect the unexpected. If anything, Z is a "weird detour" from ISM and then EU makes sense after Z.

Evil Urges was not an experiment. An experiment would be if Yim decided to give the rest of his band members nose flutes (imagine the reverb of Yames' nose flute) and asked them to join him in a bit of free jazz. Evil Urges is a good album (not to say that the aforementioned experiment wouldn't be)

Well, it's just a matter of how you look at it, I've seen them as a pretty "big" band for some time, but it depends on which bands you are comparing them to. Shallow: I've seen two episodes of American Dad and I liked both, so yeah, perhaps I should. : )

No they didn't, Irryco. Sure, Z and to a lesser extent, It Still Moves, put them in the minds of more people, but there was never really a breakthrough. Even when Evil Urges hit #9 on the Billboard 200. No one is saying what you're accusing people of thinking, but they've never been some unequalled success story either. I just find it amusing that a popular cartoon may very well be the thing that pushes My Morning Jacket over the edge.
