Несколько месяцев назад мне попался сборник пересказов "Come As You Are: A 20th Anniversary Tribute To Nirvana's Nevermind" посвященный всем тем, кого 20 лет назад зашкурило творчеством Nirvana. Многое из содержимого не понравилось - то и было слито за собой.
Осталось несколько треков:

Spurred on by a post on reddit in which people were asked to name five albums to represent their taste in music (which I can't imagine finding easy unless you're the sort of weirdo who decides what he likes based on how well it fits a genre [I'm looking at you Blabbermouth posters (three nested parentheses!)]), I was thinking on my walk home from work about how not all that long ago, I hadn't even heard of any of the bands I listed, with the exception of King Crimson (I don't listen to them a ton so it seems weird to include them but I felt they best captured all of the aspects I like in prog, so better them than mentioning two or three bands). It also made me realize that I can pinpoint certain bands and albums over the last 10 or 15 years that mark huge growths in my taste, like a series of Cambrian explosions only without the extinctions or anybody actually giving a shit. 36 Crazyfists = Title of a 1977 martial arts film directed by and starring Jackie Chan.
Amon Amarth = The Sindarin translation of Mount Doom, a volcano in J.R.R. Tolkien's book series, "The Lord of the Rings."
As I Lay Dying = Title of a novel by William Faulkner.
Atreyu = Character from the novel and film, "The NeverEnding Story."
Between the Buried and Me = Lyrics from the Counting Crows' song, "Ghost Train."
The Black Dahlia Murder = Reference to the unsolved 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short.
Casey Jones = Character from the cartoon series, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
Catch 22 = Title of a novel by Joseph Heller.
Chiodos = Reference to the filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo.
The Devil Wears Prada = Title of a novel by Lauren Weisberger.
The Dillinger Escape Plan = Reference to the infamous Depression-era bank robber, John Dillinger, who escaped from jail twice.

I'm not really that conceited, It seems I have to lure people in to read these journals anymore. Journal participation on Last.fm isn't what it used to be.

I've been meaning to compile this list a few weeks ago but between full time work, full time college and a wife and kid, this hasn't been my top priority. Plus, my computer that had my 60 GB music library crashed so I didn't have access to all of the 2010 albums I have. After the tedious process of pulling my hard drive and retrieving my music, I finally got back up and going. Anyways, here's some albums I liked, some I loved and some disappointments

After years of teasing us with false promises of this mystery "second album" they finally give us Transit Transit. …

A good idea gone horribly lazy. There were a few decent reviews. I'm deleting the list in favor of those.

I'm going to try review everything I listen to this year that I think is worth reviewing. No one will read it, and I'm doing it at as slow a pace as possible, but whatever.

Foster The People - Torches

Torches is an alright album. It doesn't really exceed that. If you're breathing you've probably heard Pumped Up Kicks, and if you've heard that then you've heard all of Torches. It's got catchy hooks throughout, but lacks the ambition to fill out the rest of the track past the chorus. I'm getting bored just talking about it so... uh, yeah.

Highlight tracks: Pumped Up Kicks and Warrent.

All in all boring and predictable. 1½/5.
