naotas_forehead Actually I really don't care about scrobbles, but I enjoy post-2002 Modest Mouse a hell of a lot more when I think of them as a different band with some of the same people in it.

tylerstravis To all those talking about Coachella... The band is SUPER hit and miss depending on Issac's intoxication level. My guess, he was WAAAASTED at Coachella... I know I always was :)

Tree-Fingers Reassessment of the newer stuff has led me to realise it's a lot better than I'd first thought (still not quite as good as the first three albums, though). Looking forward to this new album, and seeing them in July!

Of course, the venue was relatively small, and the crowd was NUTS, so that helped. But still. Modest Mouse hasn't lost it. Trust me.

@Drew: Don't worry. My expectations were very low for the concert yesterday, because they seemed so bad in the Coachella vids. I was worried my favorite band was past their prime. I WAS FUCKING BLOWN AWAY by how good the SLO show turned out to be. It made me love them even more. The best part was seeing that Isaac and Jeremiah still had the same exact fire in them that they did in their youth.

@Drew G + The sound mix on the stream was bloody awful, made everything sound dry for pretty much every band. Though it has to be said Isaac looked pretty wasted on stage he definitely had more stage presence then usual

Tonight's setlist in San Louis Obispo: 3rd Planet, Interstate 8, Float On, Dramamine, The View, Paper Thin Walls, World at Large, Satellite Skin, Shit Luck(!!), Doin' the Cockroach(!!!), Satin in a Coffin, Dark Center of the Universe, Devil's Workday, Spitting Venom, 3(?) new songs... I can't remember, this is from memory and I just got back from it and I'm really tired so they're not in perfect order and I'm probably missing a few. A little too much Good News for my taste, but honestly, I didn't care. It was sooo good.

tonight in Pomona, CA they threw in a handful of old songs which pleased me greatly. Dramamine, Custom Concern, Trailer Trash, Cowboy Dan, Baby Blue Sedan. Would've liked to hear Talkin Shit or Doin' the Cockroach, but I'm still stoked that they even played all of these. Looks like so far this tour they've just been playing mostly Good News and No One's First songs.

The is certainly a lot of new material, a lot of it can be heard on youtube, and they're doing a full UK tour which tells me they have something new to promote (the never tour the UK)

jackiechrist I like the new stuff, a lot. SSS is still my favorite, but at the other end of the spectrum is some good stuff too, maybe not as solid as some of the earlier albums, but there are some DEFINITE gems. I love No One's First, a TON. And "Education" is one of my favorite Modest Mouse tracks, period. I had a harder time getting into Good News, but I ended up loving it a lot, too.
