I've always been one to prefer the Courage of Others over Van Occupanther but lately i'm enjoying the latter much more. Bandits and We Gathered in Spring are insanely good.

I think they should incorporate some of their original jazz-funk elements for the next album. Their work on John Grant's "Chicken Bones" most certainly makes me think they can pull it off.

I could see a studio version of that being really good. I hope their next album is happier that Courage was, though. Ala the cautious optimism of Van Occupanther.

they did play a new song live a while back : http://youtube.com/watch?v=GR79HA4lTaU. Sounds sweet, but it probably would have been one of the weaker tracks had it been on the Courage of Others.

I'm thinking they're moving towards something psychedelic, maybe an album of stuff more like "The Horn" - as long as they don't go all party/R&B on our ass, i'll be happy...even then i'd probably still be happy, just less so.
