Michael Andrews是一位美国的音乐家和出色的电影作曲家。他为Donni Darko这部电影所作原声曲Mad World这首歌最为人们所知，这部原声专辑也在2003年的圣诞名列英国最佳专辑。

Michael Andrews在加州圣地亚哥长大，少年时期就在当地组建了一些乐队。Andrews和他的朋友Topper Rimel以及Rony Abada在1985年成立了乐队The Origin，乐队早期的风格受The Beatles,Crosby,Stills,Nash&Yong,Nick Drake以及The Smiths的影响。Andrews担任主要作曲作词，以及乐队负责人，他们于1989年与维金(Virgin)唱片签定了唱片合约。首张同名专辑于1990年发行，接着在1992年发行了专辑Bend，当年这张专辑在美国billboard专辑榜TOP20列名，还在全美、英国和拉脱维亚得了一系列的奖。

Michael Andrews开始为电影作曲是一个偶然的机会，那是当他在一个非主流灵魂爵士乐队的时候，导演Jake Kasdan请他为他的第一部作品Zero Effect的音乐操刀，并且在一个电视节目中得到了很大的关注。于是Donnie Darko的导演Richard Kelly便委托他负责整部电影的原声音乐。

Pity Mad World is the one everyone loves so much. The other Donnie Darko soundtrack songs are much more beautiful and expressive imo.
