The problem with the Mercenary split is that, technically it's not Mercenary anymore, so if they release new material and its rubbish, it sort of slanders the brilliant "Classic" Mercenary we all knew and loved. Good luck to them but i think a name change is in order. Hope to see Mike, Morten and Mikkael surface somewhere.

Shiiiiiiit.....I hate it when this happens to one of my favorite bands sometimes! Mikkel was one of my favorite clean vocalists in metal. So sad to see him go along with Mike & Morten. But this was the band's decision, so I respect it. It was probably best for them. And personally, I wouldn't mind hearing a heavier album from them.

Maybe it's good for Mercenary? Anyway, it's good for me :D I love old mercenary style (First Breath, Everblack, 11 Dreams). But i will miss high-pitch vocals of Mikkel :(

I think it's very safe to say that Mike didn't leave the band because he didn't want to play heavier! Just like relationships, you sometime grow apart - and I respect the guys for taking this very hard decision now, instead of ignoring the realities and maybe put out a shitty album that us fans would dislike. I'm confident something good will come of this, even though it will not be the same :-)

They should try to make more complex stuff, not more heavy stuff. I mean, Melodic Death Metal and the likes of it are part of the heaviest music there is imo. If they wanted to make more complex stuff instead of heavier stuff those 3 maybe would have stayed =( Darnit!

Oh fuck...those three are gone...that sucks big time...but i still hope that the guys who remained in the band will make an kickass album...Mercenary lives on! But i wonder who will replace the vocalist...that's like when Christian from Scar Symmetry left the band...the fans gone crazy,because his vocals were unique....well,future will tell..

Jakob, Martin, and René wanted to make heavier, faster, and generally more brutal music (with an old-school touch), but Mikkel, Morten, and Mike weren't too happy about it. That's pretty much all I know right now, but I might reread the announcement again to make sure.

why you people want to bury the band ? Jacob was main song writer, and he is staill in the band. and we even don't know who will replace Mikkel. I think fans must still believe that Mercenary will rise from the ashes.

the soul of mercenary has gone with Kral - the sound of them will be gone with Mikkel, Morten and Mike. i suspect new mercenary will be solid good metal - but they will sound very different and will never reach the atmosphere and spirit of 11 Dreams again...RIP Mercenary - thx for unbelievable music
