Megadeth（中译：大屠杀，英文单词Megadeath的变形）乐队成立于1983年的旧金山.主唱Dave Mustaine(戴夫.马斯泰恩)离开”金属”（Metallica）乐队后很快召集贝斯手:戴夫.埃勒弗森(David.Euefson)吉他手:克里斯.波伦(Chris Poland)和鼓手:加尔.萨缪尔森(Gar Samuelson)组建了”大屠杀”乐队。

乐队属于典型的激流金属（Thrash Metal），在“金属“（Metallica）乐队的风格基础上，更加强了乐器演奏技巧、音乐的速度。制造出更加刺耳的器乐噪音，使其音乐更剧危险性、死之性。乐队的成绩也非常不错，每个专辑都成为金唱片。

It's interesting that Megadeth is at the top of related artists on the Metallica page, but here it is way down on 10th place.

Dave tackles relevant stuff in almost all of his lyrics. Megadeth isn't all about being "tough" and "brutal" and "dark". Hell, even their name is a reference to nuclear annihilation. Dave has his moments of cheese like anyone else, but songs like Peace Sells, Symphony of Destruction, even Endgame hit a nerve for me. Plus Mustaine has that snarl that is particularly well-equipped to deliver the message. There may be better metal lyricists, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. And FFS, don't say Hetfield. Have you heard Metallica's lyrics in the last ten+ years? Ugh.

Dave does have his moments for lyrics (Tears in a Vial), but I wouldn't say he's anywhere near the best. My favorite lyricists, however, would be the guys in Insomnium.

Really? Tornado of Souls is one of my favorites by them, never knew that solo was all improv...And anybody else surprised that Metallica isn't even in the similar artists? With all the comparisons that go on in this shoutbox, I thought they'd be there for sure.
