Definately a fan of the original Marillion . Not a big fan of thier stuff after the Fish era . Tried a few of the CDs but it just wasn't the same anymore . Not saying it was bad , just wasn't the groove they had in the begining .

Old Marillion (with Fish) was a great band. New Marillion (with H) is a great band. Marillion is one of the best rock bands out there :)

You're right, still, albums like Sunset on Empires and 13th Star sound pretty bitter and angry to me. But anyway, real artists need to evolve. As they grow older, their music changes and that's a good thing for me. People who only dwell on the past and how good they were twenty years ago are much less interesting.

"if you like the anger and bitterness of Fish voice and lyrics, you should listen to his solo albums" While there's still some anger and bitterness in Fish's solo music, he became much more mellow after leaving Marillion. You can hear big hints of this change of direction in the demos he recorded with Marillion after the Clutching at Straws album.

Well, actually, Brave is not just a track, but a complete album. But if you like the anger and bitterness of Fish voice and lyrics, you should listen to his solo albums rather than to H era Marillion. H has brought a new sensitivity to the band, allowing the band to explore a wider array of emotions.
