「Madredeus 聖母合唱團」是一個葡萄牙樂團，創立於1985年，1988年開始巡迴演唱至今，樂團已走遍世界各地，帶著無數的回憶和情感，成為葡萄牙的第一個國際音樂大使。全球演唱會的賣座情形以及世界多國超過300萬張的唱片銷售量，證明著這個樂團的成功 。他們的音樂平和，安靜但又充滿熱情，讓你暢想人生，是個不可多得的人文樂隊。
「聖母合唱團」於1985年創立，樂隊最初成員是「Pedro Ayres Magalhaes」（古典吉他）、「Rodrigo Leao」（鍵盤合成器），「Francisco Ribeiro」（大提琴）於1986年加入，後來他們一直在尋找一位女歌手，直到他們在里斯本一家夜總會裡發現了「Teresa Salgueiro」，「Teresa Salgueiro」喜歡他們的音樂並同意加入。
「Teresa Salgueiro」有著天使般的嗓音，歌喉純真柔美，不是一般Fado歌手的剛猛滄桑，尤其能表達Fado幽怨感性的特質。「聖母合唱團」的作曲和編曲也相當輕盈流暢，既有傳統音樂的基礎，亦加入現代元素，配合極具詩意的歌詞，因此很容易被大眾接受，聽者不期然會愛上葡萄牙優美音樂文化。

TotallyForget : Justamente por não ter divulgação que as outras músicas não ficam famosas. Eu acho ótimo que grandes emissoras de TV ou rádio divulguem músicas de bandas como Madredeus ou Beirut. É bom tanto pra própria banda quando pro pro público leigo , para que saibam que existe música além dos " top 10" da vida..

Por que "O Pastor" é a mais popular? Ah, lembrei! Por causa da minissérie "Os Maias" da Rede Globo. Por que tem que tocar na "Grobo" para ficar famosa? Foi a mesma coisa com "Elephant Gun" da banda Beirut. Tocou na minissérie "Dom Casmurro", virou hit!
