trying too hard? wtf? I hate when people say shit like this, and I've heard things like this plenty. How do you know if someone is pretentious unless you've met them and had a conversation with them? What is the definition of "trying too hard" anyway? I hear that thrown around a lot by judgmental people. Dance music is dance music, it's supposed to be slightly full of it, just like rap. I can think of many musicians who tried hard to be successful after a hit and failed, like Sir Mix-a-lot, for example, and to me that's trying too hard.
