Kreator is a popular thrash metal band from Essen, Germany. They originally started under the name Tormentor. Starting their career in 1982, they played thrash metal with Venom influences[1]. They differ from the Bay Area thrashers in their brutality and speed. Their style of music is similar to their compatriots Destruction and Sodom, the two biggest German thrash metal bands. All 3 of these bands are often credited with helping create Death Metal, by containing a few elements of what was to become death metal.
Kreator’s work has been consistently in the vein of pure thrash, with the exception of three albums during the 1990s when they undertook serious experimentation. Incorporating industrial, goth and avant-garde elements into their sound, the results were uneven in some fans eyes.

"I see someone has problems with understanding the word pure" I don´t care for what is pure or not,but Kreator returned to thrash with Violent Revolution,so what if its melodeath inspired? bands can have new influences and still sounds good to me,that makes them sound fresh and still true to their roots.On Pleasure to Kill they had a death/thrash sound,so they were neither pure thrash then right? some people really cares too much for this stuff.Recent albums are not nearly as good as Extreme Agression or Pleasure to Kill,Coma,etc but are far from crap.
