The last albums were boring and predictable, yes. But they'll always be my favorite band regardless of the direction they'll take.

Don't forget Karma and Epica (yes that album which gave its name to a Dutch band called Epica)

"The Black Halo" and "The Fourth Legacy" are definitely my favorite Kamelot albums too. TBH is my absolute favorite in terms of songwriting and lyrics, but TFS is an extremely close second. I'd say they're my favorite albums in the power metal genre as a whole, really. "Karma" and "Epica" are fantastic too, of course.

I agree. These 4 albums are also my favourite of Kamelot. I guess that Khan singing in all of those, plays a part in that choice; with all due respect to the work that Vanderbilt and Karevik have done. But Khan will always remain a crucial part in the legacy of Kamelot, during his 13-year career in this band.

That's because Khan didn't write material for "Siege Perilous". He just sang there. The lines were supposed to be sung by Vanderbilt, and when Conception split in late 1997, (or early 1998) then Kamelot immediately hired Khan to sing for Siege perilous. And throughout 1999/2000 Khan worked A LOT lyrically and musically so they could progress so much in "The 4th Legacy." Thomas had some good ideas in the riffs, but many of The 4th Legacy's tracks like "Lunar Sanctum" were made possible because of Khan's PROG experience in Conception for 8 years (1990-1998).

Got that EP preordered. I've never contributed to a crowdfunding campaign before. I guess I just wanna hear Khan's voice again that much.

Is it wrong to admit that Phantom Divine (Shadow Empire) is the metal track of the year, this early? I'd really like to.

Sorry to say this but The Shadow Theory sounds as predictable as I thought it would sound, sans the child choir in Burns to Embrace. The female vocalists that lend their voices for a couple of tracks are weakest to date in Kamelot's history. Luckily, Karevik is as good as ever but even so, he does so much better in his other projects. I like the past two albums with him but the new album leaves me pretty cold. Silverthorn and Haven were no masterpieces either and had that been here-done that vibe, but they offered enough quality material to call them enjoyable discs. I wish they stopped this "Ghost Operaish" symphonic style at some point and returned to their classic era sound (The Fourth Legacy-The Black Halo) OR did something different to them still maintaining their core elements. Maybe too much to ask at this point. :/ Still, Kamelot will always be one my favourite bands.

The new album as awesome as one would expect from Kamelot. The people that can't face that Khan left the band are just sad to me you are not gonna except anyone as frontman for Kamelot whoever it is. Karevik is perfection <3

I'd love it if they'd bring back some "Fourth Legacy" songs, honestly. I think Tommy would pull them off effortlessly (he did a great job with all Khan era songs in their set when I saw them in 2015). Listen to the new Seventh Wonder song "Victorious", his voice is fantastic when used to its fullest potential. I enjoy his singing on the last few Kamelot albums, though his voice is noticeably more subdued than with SW. Kind of like how Floor's voice is noticeably subdued on EFMB...

and yeah, I do prefer Khan personally - I like his lyrics better, and my favorite Kamelot album - and favorite metal album generally - will probably always be "The Black Halo".

At first listen I didn't quite know about the album, but after a few spins I absolutely love it. It has a few new elements and at times it dossn't even sound like Kamelot, and not in a bad way! "Burns to Embrace" was absolutely magnificent! And "The Proud and the Broken" and "Vespertine (My Crimson Bride)", wow! Easily one of the most ambitious albums after Tommy joined!

The Shadow Theory is pretty good, I loved the new songs and influences, always good to hear innovations, still not their best work, of course, but way better than Haven.

New album is amazing! "Static" and "The Proud And The Broken" is the most favorite songs on the album. "Burns To Embrace", "Amnesiac" and "In Twilight Hours" also one of my favorites.

Well, I like the new album. No, it's not my favorite. No, nothing will ever beat "The Black Halo" (or the three albums that preceded it). However, "The Shadow Theory" mostly manages to keep me entertained. There are weak points - the two singles are underwhelming, though not bad, and "Static" is pretty middle of the road - but there are some really strong moments that easily outweigh those. It's kind of the Tommy era's equivalent to "Poetry for the Poisoned", they stepped up the heaviness a bit. I really like "Amnesiac", "Burns to Embrace", "Kevlar Skin" and the almost classic-era sounding "Vespertine (My Crimson Bride)".

I loved Haven but I'm not sure about the new album, sometimes it feels amazing, sometimes bland and flat. I'm going to wait until I have the physical copy to make a better review. However, Burns to Embrace and Vespertine are really awesome songs!

yeah Burns to Embrace is fantastic, loved both vocal and instrumental version, weird but i liked Ravenlight instrumental better than vocal.

That Ravenlight end was really surprising, but the song as whole didn't get me. I guess I have to give it more attention. I didn't like Poetry For the Poisoned at first, and now it's one of my favs, so maybe this album can grow on me.

dunno if any of the ol' Kambox still pops in here, but Shadow Theory is bomb AF and it's all I'm gonna be listening to for the next forever. It's like they took Haven and ran with it, only x100.

Thing is, I completely agree, but I'm okay with it. "Phantom Divine" is a clone of "Veil of Elysium", which was a clone of "Sacrimony", which was the "Center of the Universe" / "Forever" of Silverthorn. They have a formula and, at least for me, it works. It has worked since I fell in love with these guys with The Fourth Legacy. Yeah, it might be getting stale, but I'll always give them a chance.

Nä du borde bara ha slutat lyssna om du inte gillar det som släppts efter att Roy drog. Precis som ni andra som gnäller på Karevik hela tiden.

I don't remember specifically fearing that it would be Fabio, but we were all hoping they wouldn't pick just "any old" random typical power metal singer for the spot. A couple days before they announced it, one of their studio vids had a teaser for Veritas in it and I mentioned how much it sounded like Tommy but I was just afraid of getting my hopes up haha. Listening again now it's real clear of course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svpdT3d5o4Q

"Ravenlight" is mostly what I expect a Kamelot single to be like at this point in their career, though I didn't expect it to speed up near the end. Tommy sounds great, less Khan-esque than on "Silverthorn", though there are still some clear similarities between the two. I'm under the impression "The Shadow Theory" is basically going to be "Haven 2" with a few minor tweaks. I'd say I like this song, though judging from the samples I think I'll like others better (very curious about "Vespertine").

Is there someone who has Silverthorn on vinyl that wants to sell it? As a person that rearly listen to power metal anymore i have to say that Kareviks voice is more soothing to listen to. I much prefer him to Khan but i like both. I think it's a matter of taste..
