Sono mesi che sentiamo parlare di Lana Del Rey, è vero, ma sono anni che sentiamo parlare di Rihanna e Lady Gaga. Messe lì dal music business per tenere in piedi un'industria che ha avuto momenti migliori, le popstar si impongono a volte come manager di sé stesse, altre sembrano non saper fare nulla senza l'abile mano di una casa discografica che le sposti a suo piacimento assegnando loro quello che in quel momento radio, tv musicali, Youtube e tasti di condivisione potrebbero meglio fagocitare. Spesso il pop da classifica ci attira, con le sue melodie facili e i suoi slogan martellanti, ma in poco tempo ne scopriamo la vuotezza stanca, la frivolezza non raffinata, i testi grossolani. Vorremmo rimanerne affascinati, continuare a porgergli l'orecchio, fare dei suoi ritornelli gli slogan delle nostre piccole vite o delle nostre grandi idee e dei nostri pensieri meno convenzionali… -

My music taste has changed quite a lot since my last blog on last.fm. I've began to fall in love with rap and hip-hop music more and more over the last few years. One person in particular for me who has stood out was Kid Cudi. After hearing the mixtape a KiD named CuDi I instantly fell in love with his lyricism and honesty on his records.
The production on that mixtape was phenomenal in itself too. Since that mixtape i've come across a lot of other artists who I have grown to love also, but only recently I came across a new artist who I personally think is going to hit the charts hard over the next 18 months. His name is Shawn Chrystopher.
I downloaded only one of his mixtapes, Silent Films for the Blind and it is a fantastic effort in my opinion. It just brought me back to that day i first listened to 'A Kid Named Cudi'. Again I think that the album is very raw, honest, and timed quite well throughout.

.L.W.H. is an up-and-coming musician and film-director from Texas. Last fall a friend of mine recommended a tape, praising its luscious production. I was sold as soon as read the track-list guest-features, being that it was littered with lo-fi favorites. The Tape Hiss Hooligan, .L.H.W.’s debut LP, provides hip hop with a new, progressive sound. The 15 track record features production all by .L.W.H., with the best rappers, who right now only exist in the context of the Internet, contributing the vocals. The result is a highly pleasurable listening experience that induces heavy head-nodding.
I linked up with Mr. Hodge, recently, via Skype. Albeit, some technical difficulty, all on my part, I was able to improvise and conduct a rare interview about his thoughts on the MPC, the Internet, the pressure of success, and among other topics, Lil B.
