Chris Garneau是个创作型歌手，1983年出生在波士顿并在那里长到8岁，然后在巴黎和家人住过几年，之后在搬到纽约之前在新泽西州居住并在那里上中学。6岁的时候学习钢琴的时候发现自己对音乐的爱好，高中时开始对音乐剧着迷，并且后来为百老汇获得托尼奖的Spring Awakening工作过一段时间。其实高中之后Garneau在餐馆里打工（relief的MV场景设置就是在酒吧里当招待，别的MV也基本上都是在酒吧（餐馆？）里拍摄的）。那个时候他18岁，也就是一般18岁都会遇见到的一些事情。Garneau当时感觉十分焦虑，压力和恐慌，曾经有一次感觉自己是心脏病发作。在餐馆工作自然是很压抑和让人烦恼的。
