Hammock乐队由氛围和后摇作曲家Marc Byrd、Andrew Thompson二人组成。首张大碟《Kenotic》发表于2005年。

2005年夏，Hammock发表了EP《Stranded Under Endless Sky》，紧接着，2006年初他们又发表了Sleep-Over系列的第一张。2006年11月，他们在Darla唱片下发表了第二张大碟《Raising Your Voice…Trying to Stop an Echo》。2008年1月，Hammock宣布将在5月推出他们的第三张特别大碟《Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow》，CD装帧设计（这张唱片是三折盒装）是由与Sigur Ros和Parachutes一直合作的Riceboy Sleeps来做的。

Hammouk大部分作品是氛围音乐，《Kenotic》中部分曲目有着飘渺的人生。他们的声音比较催眠，很像他们的后摇前辈Brain Eno和The Verve 的Nick McCebe。

他们的近期作品增加了更多的器乐元素，比如Marc Byrd的概念系列Sleep-Over。NPR电台（Nationl Public Radio）曾经播放过他们的作品，《Kenotic》专辑中的部分曲目还被NBC用在2006年冬季奥运会的新闻报道中。

Tuesday 8, December 2009 Album Update. Sorry for the lack of posts about the upcoming album. We've been working really hard on it this whole time, thinking that we'd still be able to release it this year, but we had a few unforeseen complications and things just took a little longer than we thought they would. We really appreciate all of the inquiries about the album and feel badly that we weren't able to hold to our original schedule. We're now looking at March 2010 for the release date--but we're using this extra time to make the album the best it can be, and we're working on some other things like another music video and a couple of musical collaborations that are works-in-progress. The title of the album is "Chasing After Shadows...Living with the Ghosts", and it has 12 songs and a running time of about 73 minutes. It was mixed by Tim Powles (member of The Church, one of our musical heroes, and master of the “wet mix”). The song titles follow:

I've listened to Raising Your Voice... Trying to Stop an Echo for about a year now but haven't taken the time to move on to a different album, despite having listened to that album plenty of times. Could somebody point me to a different album (by Hammock) that is equally as good as Raising Your Voice...? Thanks in advance for any responses.
