The most bizarre moment in Obscura for me during my first listen was the groove/riff in Nostalgia. It reminded me of Drowning Pool.

I never got the impression that Spawn of Possession is JUST wankery, there is some wankery in their sound but its balanced out by actual song structure, some good riffs and REAL classical influence (not just playing diminished arpeggios and shit)
