加布里埃尔·福雷（Gabriel Fauré，1845年5月12日－1924年11月4日），法国的艺术歌曲作曲家、管风琴家、钢琴家以及音乐教育家。福雷前承圣桑，后继者则有拉威尔与德彪西；早期与圣桑一同为法国国民乐派奠基，后期在巴黎音乐学院任内力行改革，提拔后进，对于法国近代音乐发展起了轴承的作用。福雷的音乐作品以声乐与室内乐闻名，在和声与旋律的语法上也影响了他的后辈。

The Ballade for piano op.19 is certainly one of the most outstanding pieces of the romantic period, and I'm surprised it's so underrated. All Fauré's music is underrated anyway...

A beautiful piece of music. So enlightening yet in some parts haunting. This isn't 'my field' of music but it really is a perfect piece that I could listen to all day! So modern too! This piece could be used as part of a modern day movie score and would be perfect. Truely magnificent work.
