One of the most unique bands in metal thanks to great technical riffing of Stefan and beatiful musical-like voice of Mathias. Also notice that lyrics are always a story about something and they avoid being cheesy at any time. They have very little in common with bands mentioned before - if you want to hear something close try out CHARON. Thumbs up for bari-tenor vocalists!!!!

Tuomasp: Nothing should be too cliché. That a band sounds exactly like another band is never good, no matter the genre. I don't mind power metal, I simply feel there are too many bands/composers making the same album/score twenty times.

Why is Falconer being less power metal a good thing? Do people need to be able to say "I don't listen to power metal but I listen to Falconer because they are so little power metal" ? @Quispian: Why is it a good thing they're not as power as Strato, Rhapsody or BG? Anyway, the real thing why I wanted to shout was that the debut album is simply amazing: If you carefully listen to songs like Mindtraveller, Wings of Serenity, Substitutional World and Enetering Eternity you'll discover that debut is astonishing and very original piece of folk influenced power metal.

I do concider them power metal, but they are not as power metal as Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire or Blind Guardian. And yes, that is a good thing :)

Quispiam - I wasnt aiming my comment at you, someone else said they were unoriginal and cliche. I agree with you about the last album, it's a great piece of work and I look forward to the next one. Songs like Mindtraveller are always going to be the Falconer "Power Metal" classics but they arent like many other Power Metal bands around, I didn't even really consider them Power Metal.

Actually their first album was greatly inspired by previous Mithotyn albums, and hence the tasty, folkish guitar melodies on "Falconer". While being maybe "pure power metal" in some essence (frequent use of double bass, (mostly) fast songs), the guitar melodies on the album combined with Blad's vocals make this album truly stand out from the endless ocean of power metal albums. But I'm still glad that Stefan is pushing the band towards new direction, and not producing the same album over and over again. It's has always been interesting to buy the latest Falconer album because you never know exactly what you'll get ( well you know that you get quality) .

Am I the only one who really loves their latest album? It's not very high in the tracks. I'm not a die hard fan but my impression is that earlier albums were much less inspired and fell much more upon clichés. Am I wrong?
