"great band getting worse with each record" - yeah, agreed. Their first two albums both had a few killer tracks between them - Loene, Previous Crimes, The Night I Couldn't Stop Crying, Love Doesn't End Like That, but the current album is pure filler. Saw them live a couple of times supporting the National and Einstürzende Neubauten, thought the singer was way too deeply in love with himself considering nobody really gave a fuck about his band. Another band for the "when I grow up I wanna be Nick Cave" pile.

My discovery of the Devastations was very much a "right place right time" scenario. I was in a record shop and they were playing "Coal". I loved it right away and asked the owner what it was; I bought it on the spot and never looked back. Great band!
