This band coulda gone the whole 9 yards. Seriously awesome. Then they released 'African Elephants'. Not what I expected, to put it mildly. It's not a grower, that's for sure. What the F*CK happened?! Jeez.

i saw them live yesterday, they supported strike anywhere. they were great and the singer came in the crowd while strike anywhere played and joined the mosh :-D

sipsy, that might be it. To me his voice sounds cleaner. I don't know if that was a conscious effort or an after effect of being sober. I re-listened to African Elephants today and I enjoyed it more this time around.

Saw them yesterday as support for Strike Anywhere and I have to say... I was more suprised with Dead To Me than I was with SA (didn't know both of their music).. amazing band!

I used to hate those guys who complained about a band changing. I would always say, "what about artistic expression guys?" Now after being disappointed by African Elephants I understand why someone would complain. It's not a bad album, just different. Also, does anyone else think that Chicken sounds different on this album?

I love everything dead to me have put out, african elephants is no exception. people moaning about a lack of jack or the songs not sounding ballerina-enough should get over themselves and embrace artistic growth. nathan has a stunning voice and I think they've carved themselves an exciting future with the new album. who cares if they alienate a few internet nerds along the way?

The lyrics on African Elephants aren't nearly as good as the lyrics on Cuban Ballerina or Little Brother.
