You only need to listen to one song ("This World") to see how overtly synth pop their music is... (yeah Depeche Mode's People Are People was sampled in it) but I started from their first album, very synthpop/New Order/The Cure/DM driven and I listen to a hell of a lot of "darkwave" groups, so that's how sure I am

Not that sure about synthpop anyway - it's way different, at least to me. Maybe their early stuff, but still, rather dreampop like Cocteau Twins, not really synthpop. However, I'm not any fan of the genre, so I could be wrong. Darkwave pioneers - legends: for sure.

Guys listen, it's called synthpop, electro, darkwave, whatever... but Clan of Xymox do not make EBM music. Influence? Yeah sure why not, but they don't make it.

Even when Boyled says he does not like anything of the later period ( very strange !) boyled01 is after all these years still extremely obsessed by the band, that is good to see! Especially from a Queen and Rammstein fan like him. ( I don't see how he could even be interested in cox ( ever) apart from harassing the band on all sorts of pages..)

There's nothing EBM about Clan of Xymox. Pretty much everything even close to it is the SYNTHPOP influence

Wtf?!Eldritch?muahah I can't see nothing of Andrew in Ronny at all,a "good" comparison.As for "an average gothic ebm band"...I still don't know any "ebm" band that has the same sound and the way of playing (even the frozen autumn sounds not like cox).So the first period of Xymox is the first period that was connected with 4AD,80s after all.2 part-"disco-experiments"-the most difficult for Ronny.The 3rd period is a new spurt,fresh blood.You should understand the reasons and consequence

rubbish ever since twist of shadows in 89....back in the 80s they were something unique, something special......now they sound like an average gothic ebm band with ronny imitating andrew eldritch.....quite a fall since 1989 i'm afraid

: ) I Don't think I made any contradiction here, sir. As I said the tempo is the only similar thing I can find. But to me that's far not enough, otherwise all slow motion songs must be emotional/depth twins, just cause of the tempo. I do not find any resembles between them and wanted to share my opinion. If you find them similar that's fine. But don't need you to convince me how wrong am I, nor which song of 'ILWT' is better than 'Judas'. As you present it almost like a fact, not personal preference... …However, it's a one of a kind band, that never failed to charm me, so happy listening to everyone.

I really can't understand this comparison between 'Sea of Doubt' and 'All I Have'. Exept the slow motion, I can't find any other similarities - neither in their moods, nor depths. I definitely prefer the second one much, much more, it's really a masterpiece. And yes, iaretehrulzor, 'Judas' absolutely rules ; )
