Cat Power trabalha em novo álbum.

Chan Marshall, a Cat Power, está trabalhando em um novo álbum. O sucessor de "Jukebox", disco de covers lançado em 2008, ainda está em seus primeiros estágios de criação, mas a cantora já antecipou ao site australiano Curier Mail: "Desta vez, sou só eu."
Ainda sem grandes detalhes sobre o novo disco, a Chan adiantou que pretende trabalhar nele sozinha. Contudo, segundo ela, isso não quer dizer que o método "faça-você-mesmo" esteja livre de armadilhas. "Quando você escreve uma música com um gravador, existe muito dessa coisa de rebobinar, que acaba fazendo você esquecer de anotar o que está em determinadas fitas e então você se perde", comentou.
A cantora falou que um dos grandes motivos para ela se sentir atualmente mais confiante em relação à sua música é a segurança que tem na banda que a acompanha. "Quando você conhece as pessoas há um bom tempo, elas se tornam seus aliados", disse sobre o grupo Dirty Delta Blues, que inclui velhos amigos dela, como Judah Bauer, do Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, e Jim White, do The Dirty Three. "Com Jim, nossa amizade vem sempre em primeiro lugar, e Jude tem sido um camarada há anos. Eu nunca tive isso antes."
Um dos grandes motivos da insegurança dela em trabalhar sozinha em um álbum é exatamente essa. "Não sei se devo deixar essas canções de lado para começar a escrever e gravar com a banda. Não sei o que fazer. Mas cheguei a um ponto em que meu coração me diz 'Chan, você não toca um piano ou uma guitarra há quatro ou cinco anos'. E eu tenho muita culpa por isso. As pessoas me perguntam 'Quando você tocará sozinha?'"
Enquanto mais informações sobre o novo álbum não são reveladas, Cat Power seguirá, no final de dezembro, em turnê pela Austrália, acompanhada de seus "aliados" da Dirty Delta Blues.
