2005年5月25号，21岁的美国大学生，来自Oklahoma的Carrie Underwood在第四届“American Idol”（美国偶像－美国“超女”）的角逐中力挫群芳夺得冠军。随后，Carrie Underwood与著名厂牌Arista签约。她的首只单曲“Inside Your Heaven”在发行首周就以超过17万张的销量，将天后玛丽亚.凯莉的冠军单曲“We Belong Together”挤出冠军宝座达一周之久。 2005年11月15日，在“American Idol”大赛中夺冠不到半年之后，Carrie Underwood发行了首张个人专辑《Some Hearts》.其中的热门歌曲“Jesus Take The Wheel”获得乡村音乐学院奖（ACM）年度歌曲、年度单曲、最佳女歌手、最佳新进女歌手等4项提名，以及乡村音乐电视奖（CMT）最佳女艺人音乐录影带、最具突破性音乐录影带、最具启发性音乐录影带等3项提名。在美国乡村音乐协会2005年度颁奖典礼上Carrie Underwood演唱的也正是这首歌曲。
