The reggae makes the Bad Brains. The combination of reggae-punk influenced many other musicians to combine very different styles as well (Smashing Pumpkins' style of soft and hard rock were directly influenced by the Bad Brains) and they also perform their reggae songs very well (Youth Are Getting Restless, I & I Survive, I Luv I Jah... all great dub/reggae songs). You can dislike the genre but don't call it a "punishment". You gotta admit they are good at it.

you x_boy_x, have you ever seen them live? reggae is such a vital part of the bad brains, it helps you gain energy when you're expecting to break out, and, besides that practical use, they are such great reggae musicians as well, they are a very solid group, and the new material is still as good and noisy as ever, so stop talking crap and just listen to it, you'll finally get it, at some point or another.
