Atrium Carceri albums have never been about scaryness, it has always been about what is hidden behind the veil/illusion sometimes that is scary stuff sometimes it is about lies and deceit and so on. This album continues the story perfectly from previous albums just open your minds.

Dark ambient isn't equal to solely "scary music". I can only quote the Wikipedia: Dark ambient is a general term for any kind of ambient music with a "dark" or dissonant feel, but often involves extensive use of digital reverb to create vast sonic spaces for frightening, bottom-heavy sounds such as deep drones, gloomy male chorus, echoing thunder, and distant artillery. It has an eerie feel. Generally the music tends to evoke a feeling of solitude, melancholy, confinement, and isolation. And Phrenitis does it excellently.

Thats how i feel about it. This album is totally not scary like his previous efforts. i think thats what left me confused on what i felt towards it. great music, just not what i call dark ambient anymore

The new album ("Phrenitis") is a serious serious dark music. It's not naive like most of the genre, this can really make you uncomfortable, really tell you a dark and atmospheric, convincing story. That's why Atrium Carceri is one of a kind.

I've listened to Phrenitis 2 times now and I am still undecided of what I think of it. I can best describe it as the soundtrack for a doomed world. Amazing detail and sound as always but its much different then his previous work. I'm sure it will grow on me more and more.

The new album arrived and I listened it in a dark room lying on a bed with headphones on. I can't express how good it was and it is! Simon created such new sounds that I can't describe, still they evoked so many different feelings; I felt unsettled, annoyed, creeped, hypnotised, calmed, very-very sad, I felt anger, the need for revolt and ultimately: indolence.

@gl00my_sunday As if we DON'T know about Lustmord. And seriously, stop the comparison between Atrium and Mord. I ALWAYS see someone talking about Lustmord somewhere in an Atrium conversation. It makes me wonder if those people don't know dark ambience very well... Anyway I gotta buy that new album.
