what a great band, musically and lyrically! their lyrics made you step outside the box and go huh? and then you had a new perspective. so sad they're gone.

i love every album. Son I Loved You At Your Darkest is brilliant post-hardcore, Come Now Sleep has epic post-rock moments (Contact is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard), and Hell Or High Water is great catchy "indie" for lack of a better term. I really admire a band that can progress so much and still be amazing with each release... so sad they broke up :(

At least when Cody does write about religion he brings an original perspective. There's just too many Christian post hardcore acts out there jamming worship tunes. This band seems to question and challenge faith without dismissing it.

Cody has stated that Hell Or High Water was for the most part him jamming. He wanted to let go of that feeling that he was obligated to write songs strictly about God simply because they were on a Christian label. Clearly those undertones are still there and contrary to what he may have said in his final interview about As Cities Burn I still feel that these may be his most straight forward and honest lyrics to date.

hell or high water is the most mature rock i've ever heard and some of the most moving and raw and emotional it's thought provoking on more levels than most modern music and i love the band's entire discography but HoHW is by far their best cd
