He's a time-travelling mad Dutch scientist who actually writes music about what he's done in a parallel universe he's found a passageway into. I believe in his 2084 armageddon theory more than I've ever believed in any world's end theory. @v@ Anyway, that "R.I.P." comment someone wrote below is completely ridiculous - the man cannot die! He's upgraded his time machine with a fountain of youth lately. Thus, rumor tells he found the title Timeline extremely absurd and humorous (the guy laughed his ass off) for his final Ayreon work as time means nothing to him. Actually, I think he might be even the time itself. I don't know whether he was Mozart, Bethoven and stuff, but I wouldn't consider it impossible.

Maybe not the best musican, but one of the best:-) There is still Daniel Gildenlow, Devin Townsend and some other great musicians. But Ayreon rocks anyway.

Yeah, Arjen may be the best musician alive, but if he is, he's followed closely by Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation) He sang on 01011001 but I dream of the day those two will join for a duo project!
