For many grooveless years in the 80's-90's, Big Heat's one and only release "Watch Me Catch Fire" was one of the few soul records in my collection. Big Heat were a retro r & b group from mid 1980's England. The nerd connection was this: they were a quasi-supergroup that included Bill Hurley (The Inmates) and Drew Barfield (The Keys) on vocals, Chris Parks (Any Trouble) on guitar, and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) on drums, among others. An 80's power pop/pub rock nerd's wet dream...
