And there goes another year in which I've totally failed to get into the sounds of today.

The top 100 songs I listened to in 2007

    1. G.A.N.G. - KKK (Club Mix) (1983)
Another year, another best of and yet again, a track from 1983 made by an acronym from Italy takes the top spot! It was even harder this time to pick the number one, but in the end this sublime gem of floaty electronic disco won out. It's just perfect, there isn't a single element that could be improved. My favourite bit is the bell-like sequence that first makes an appearance at 1:33. It's anyone's guess why it's named KKK, as the sounds emanating from the speakers are as far from cross-burning dimwits as you could possibly get. As per usual with this sort of stuff, there is virtually no info around about the people who made it or where it came from. But there's a spot-on comment by a user named restless on its Discogs page that nicely summarises the mood of the piece: "Too slow to really dance to it, too floating to be a radio hit…

  • Annie The Greatest Hit? How did she do it

    2006年 5月 23日, 9:55 作者:Carlo86

This track by Annie is one of the great exception in the world music for me. I'm not into clubbing, i'm usually get sick of house music, but this track i really like, i makes me wanna dance(and belive me thats a just as scary thought to me, than to you) I'm into indie, rock, alternativemusic, some electronica. And i like som of Madonna's older music which is disco/dance/club music like Get into the grove,Physical Attraction, Everybody(wich annie sampled the bass line for this track), and some other pop songs(she really does know how make some really great popsongs, just not werry often) My question is really how did Annie get permission to sample the base line frome track everybody, for her song The Greatest Hit Madonna never let's anybody sample her tracks. What did annie do, that was so special?

Does anybody know? and do you have som other great songs like this to offer me?
  • Give her a break

I admit it. I like Madonna's Hung Up.

And I am also tired of the question... do you think Madonna is still the queen of pop? Errr.... what are the parameters, if you may?

But you have to give it to her. We all love our Madonna, whatever that means to each one of us. I recently watched a full crowd dance to the aforementioned new single just after the speakers had blasted Teenage Kicks...

I don't know if the Madonna thing keeps happening because everyone gives her a break since she never went all Michael Jackson on us, she never went all Prince on us and she decidedly never went all Cher on herself.

She looks good to me, she sounds good enough for a bunch of hipsters to share 3 minutes of their time with her, and somehow, playing Into the Groove doesn't feel like playing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I mean, out of 45,769 possibilities, Annie chooses to sample Everybody. That must be a good sign.

I'm not saying she doesn't have plenty of embarrasing pop moments in her career. …
