Очередную заметку я позволю себе посвятить своей давней любви, в свое время очаровавшей меня потрясающей разностороннестью творчества. Мало кто может одной рукой компоновать биты и нойз-сэмплы, второй рукой писать современное переложение Клода Дебюсси, а между делом обдумывать, как бы лучше использовать в новом альбоме муэддинские воззвания к молитве. Я, конечно, несколько утрирую – одновременно этого не смог бы и Юлий Цезарь – но это не умаляет заслуг нашей сегодняшней героини.

Anne Dudley – пианистка, композитор и дирижер. Центральная фигура Art of Noise и плодовитый сольный исполнитель. Оскароносный автор саундтреков. Ее приглашали для аранжировок своих песен Пол МакКартни, Фил Коллинз, Род Стюарт, Элтон Джон, Джефф Бек и многие другие.

А еще она умеет удивлять и как мало кто другой открывать новое в уже, казалось бы, изведанном. Однако обо всем по порядку.

Оговорюсь, что об Art of Noise, по большому счету, надо писать отдельную заметку…

1 Talking Heads - Remain in Light

The musical transition that seemed to have just begun with Fear of Music came to fruition on Talking Heads' fourth album, Remain in Light. "I Zimbra" and "Life During Wartime" from the earlier album served as the blueprints for a disc on which the group explored African polyrhythms on a series of driving groove tracks, over which David Byrne chanted and sang his typically disconnected lyrics. Remain in Light had more words than any previous Heads record, but they counted for less than ever in the sweep of the music. The album's contrasts is noteworthy: the uptempo opening of "Born Under Punches" and the decidedly dark closing of "The Overload"; the poppy "Born Under Punches" and the cerebral "Seen and Not Seen"; the frantic pace of "The Great Curve" and the narcotic styling of "Listening Wind". …

O ex-integrante do Take That e cantor britânico Robbie Williams afirmou hoje, em seu site oficial, estar bastante satisfeito com o processo de gravação de seu próximo álbum. Em seu blog, disse que "nunca esteve tão positivo sobre qualquer outra gravação antes". O próximo disco de Robbie ainda não tem data de lançamento e nome definidos, porém há especulações de que ele seja comercializado em meados de 2010 ou 2011. O último sucesso crítico dele foi com "Intensive Care" em 2005, que continha faixas que se tornaram bastante populares como Advertising Space e Tripping. Um ano depois, em 2006, ele ingressou na aventura sonora de "Rudebox", que lhe rendeu baixa e insatisfatória receptividade.

These TRULY deserved the Academy Award (2000-1991)

This is the second part of eight I will write about what I consider to be music for movies, films, screenplays or whatever you want to call it that deserves to be awarded with the Oscar.
As I wrote in the last journal entry I originally only thought about my opinion concerning this "honour" to create my personal tag "this truly deserves the academy award"

However, this entry will be a little different from the others as in the years 1996-'99 two Oscars were given, one for the Music Score of a Dramatic Picture and one for a Comedy Picture.

One year of scrobbling

NB! This journal has no purpose other than to practise my English, so (unless you're interested in statistics or in me, for some reason) don't bother reading it, as it is long and boring. :D

I wanted to write a journal for my first year of scrobbling a month ago, a journal for the concert of Laibach three months ago. I wrote neither when I had to, but I didn't abandon the idea and decided to write about both of the events in one big and out-of-date journal, where to say a few words about some new albums I've listened to ristenly and perhaps about how I've been doing lately as well. During the process of writing, however, it turned out that all these things require a lot of space and I decided to exclude the review for Laibach's concert from the plans and perhaps write a separate journal for it after all (or perhaps don't write anything about it).
