I've been listening to a lot of krautrock lately, specifically lots of stuff like Popol Vuh, Faust, Neu!, Amon Düül II, Can... Anyway, all of this weird German stuff got me back into listening to some of the more obscure items in my Krautrock library, namely stuff like Between's And the Waters Opened and Nekropolis' Musik aus dem Schattenreich.

During this spelunker's journey into the depths of 1970s German insanity, I remembered another album that blew my mind about seven-ish years ago, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, or even who the band was. I downloaded it off of a Blogspot (or some early-mid '00s equivalent) along with the aforementioned Nekropolis and Between albums; the site had a day of the week in its name, or maybe a month, and the owner later deleted the site after a bunch of his links got reported or something. The album cover was a photo of a scarlet ibis or some similar bird standing in the middle of what might have been a miniature city diorama. …

Intorno alla metà degli anni 60s , a Monaco di Baviera si era formata una libera comune hippies , dove le persone vivevano in totale libertà , organizzavano continuamente degli happening musicali , ed erano impegnati fortemente a livello politico . Qui si è formato un collettivo musicale chiamato AMON DUUL , amon era il Dio del sole e duul significa la luna . Lo scopo degli AMON DUUL era quello di coniugare SPERIMENTAZIONE + ELETTRONICA e contaminazione ROCK in generale . Se la Psychedelia era stata una filosofia di vita spontanea e solare , se il Progressive ha rappresentato una visione della vita cupa ed ostile , è in questo contesto che nasce l'esperienza tedesca del KRAUTROCK . Il merito dei gruppi KRAUT è stato quello di produrre una musica veramente innovativa che ha saputo influenzare intere generazioni musicali , dal Rock al Punk , dalla musica Elettronica alla Fusion , dalla New Age alla Sperimentazione , dalla Psychedelia al Jazz . …
