shoegaze is less about the sound of the music and more about the attitude of the music. mentioning mbv are the "flagship" of shoegaze is highly flawed, due the vast majority of shoegaze something nothing like them. especially when you consider bands like the cocteau twins that can fall into either post-punk or shoegaze with ease.

Alright... after listening to the whole latest album I see why they broke up. It's not a seamless combination of black/shoegaze/postrock... it is all over the place from song to song and even within a song itself. Randomly changing from black screams to shoegaze guitars to disco/pop beats is not a sign of a coherent band. And the roman numerals song... angry thrash death metal? Despite this... really good album!
