Notes: I don't know that I've ever listened to this all the way through! I love Alicia Keys, though, so it was a treat.

Notes: I on't really care for compilation albums on the whole, but Alien Sex Fiend is kind of hard to come by in any form. One of the very few deathrock bands I listen to, surprisingly enough; it's pretty much this and Christian Death. …

Amanda Palmer fascinates us.

Unapologetically and fiercely independent, we spoke with her a few hours after she agreed to become one side of an Ampersand, and she was (dare we say it?) giddy with happiness (she became engaged to Coraline writer Neil Gaiman on January 15).

The darkness lining the edges of her songs flirts dangerously with the humor, and quite successfully. She writes of love, abuse, seduction, and mass murder, among other titillating subjects. In fact, her rollicking number "Oasis" about rape and abortion was banned on UK radio.

“Divorced” from her first band The Dresden Dolls, and hot off her success as a solo act, she next hits the stage with Jason Webley as a musical duo: conjoined twins Evelyn and Evelyn.

Yeah, this is going to be interesting.

Amanda Palmer. Union Chapel, London. September 11-12 2009

In june I read that Amanda Palmer was playing in London, I asked my girlfriend half as a joke if we should go... she said yes and 20-30 minutes we had booked the flight, hotel and concert tickets. A month later she added an extra concert, so we bought tickets to that one too!

We drove down to Gothenburg and at the airport we found out that the plane had been delayed... Fuck! We knew we didn't have too much time to check into our hotel and get to Union Chapel in time for the first concert. We were over an hour late to London, grabbed a cab who took us to our hotel, told him to wait while we checked in. We threw our stuff into the room grabbed a wine bottle and ran back to the cab who took us to Union Chapel. We ran to the doors where they told us Amanda just had started. Totally stressed out we sat down in the beautiful church while Amanda played Missed Me. We missed the first song...

A Norwegian rock band, with a very impressive female singer (who happens to dress as a clown, so yeah.) Her vocal performance on Catch Me is amazing, and a little scary. Instrumentally, a pretty solid band, with some catchy tunes, especially Trøbbel, which you should YouTube straight away
