Song Scramble
2011年 12月 30日, 0:10 作者:lavenderblues
1.Put your iTunes on shuffle and write down the first 25 songs you get.
2. Take the first line from the first song, the second line from the second song, third line from the third song, etc. and put them in order below to make your scrambled song.
3. If the song doesn't have enough lines, loop back to the beginning; like if you need the 22nd line but the song only has 15 lines, you start counting again with the first line and use line 7.
1. Every Word I Say
2.
Love To Love Me Back
3.
If I Fail
4. Save Me
5.

Gotye ft Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know
2011年 10月 14日, 12:44 作者:astrolabe1976
Such Indie Pop stylings are usually not Astrolabe's normal cup of tea, but New Zealand's Gotye (like Gaultier) shines on this slice of quirky break up pop,
Somebody That I Used To Know
A raw and honest local lyrics about a relationship gone bad, that is subdued on the verses, then goes full out Peter Gabriel on the heart on your sleeve chorus from a relationship that goes from intimacy to icy detachment
Fellow New Zealander Kimbra joins on the second verse.
Think of it as the the adult and mature version of Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know

Rank the albums of Alanis Morissette
2011年 7月 8日, 7:12 作者:irisvanhoorn
As a kind of summary of my listening and reviewing activities of the past weeks, I would like to make a ranking list of the studio albums of Alanis Morissette. Some of the songs and albums are long time favourites, while others are just recently discovered. This list just shows how I think about them today, and may change over time.
1. Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998)

It was hard to make a choice between this album and the number 2, because I love them both so much. At the moment, this album wins. It is a dark and experimental album with very great epic lyrics.
Best tracks: Thank U, That I Would Be Good, The Couch, I Was Hoping, So Pure, Joining You
2. Jagged Little Pill (1995)

Her very strong international debut album, of which millions of copies were sold over the past 15 years. A pure and original album about very personal feelings and thoughts. … -

Album Review: Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill Acoustic (2005)

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill Acoustic
http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/174s/8682121.jpg
At first I had some doubts if I really wanted to buy this album, because it contains exactly the same songs as the 'normal' Jagged Little Pill and I thought it made no sense to have just another copy of it. But I am glad I did! I bought it in January of this year (2011). For this album Alanis recorded acoustic versions of all songs of Jagged Little Pill, 10 years after the release of the original album. To record this album she went back to co-writer Glen Ballard and the same studio where she recorded Jagged Little Pill. In interviews published on her website you can see how strange and emotional this was for her, going 10 years back in time, to where it all began. But the result is very good, I really like it. You can hear how her voice has evolved and matured during the past 10 years which brings more vocal variation in the songs. Some of the songs are really much better than the original ones… -
Album Review: Alanis Morissette - The Collection (2005)

Alanis Morissette - The Collection

As I am planning to review all of the albums I own, I see no reason to skip the compilation albums, although it is hard to compare them to the 'normal' studio albums. I bought this album in March of this year (2011) to complete my own collection (!) of Alanis, but I already knew most of the songs. The album consists of 18 songs of which 13 were released on earlier albums, 4 came from soundtracks and other albums and 1 is the cover of Seal's Crazy, which was released as a single. I think it is always difficult to compile a 'best-of' album, especially when an artist have had many hits, like Alanis. According to Alanis (in the booklet) these songs are her favourites, at that time at least. Personally I would have chosen differently, I think.
The album doesn't contain any songs of the time before Jagged Little Pill.
From the album Jagged Little Pill, it contains the following songs:
Head Over Feet

I think this was the fourth or fifth album I owned, but I am not completely sure. I bought it somewhere around 1998 or 1999 I think. I finally had the money for it, because I started working in a supermarket on Saturdays. My memory of the songs and my love for Alanis Morissette came from the years before. It all began in 1996 when I started listening to the radio more often and recording the songs that I liked on tape cassettes. I fell for that special, unique sound of her voice, so different from the ordinary. Ironic was her most popular song at that time. I really loved that song! It was followed by Head Over Feet. Hand In My Pocket is also a song I remember from that time, but this wasn't such a big hit in the Netherlands I think. These three songs are so connected to that period of time and that part of my live, that they will always be dear to me and give me that nostalgic feeling. … -

Album Review: Alanis Morissette - MTV Unplugged (1999)

Alanis Morissette - MTV Unplugged
http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/174s/50237725.png
One of the earlier albums in my collection. I bought it somewhere back in the year 2000, I think. I already had Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and I was very eager to hear more from her! For a long time these 3 albums were the only albums of Alanis I owned, because I didn't like her later work that much (at that time). I still consider these first 3 albums as her best work. MTV Unplugged is her first live album, consisting of songs of Jagged Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, together with 3 new tracks (
No Pressure Over Cappuccino, Princes Familiar and These R the Thoughts), a song she wrote for the soundtrack of the movie City of Angels (Uninvited) and a cover of The Police's King Of Pain (
King of Pain). The songs were performed on the television program MTV Unplugged. Not the complete concert was included on the album, several songs were left off. …
