He's all I'd listen to back in High School. After overdosing on all of his albums I took a break for a year or two, but listening to his stuff again it's just as amazing as I remember it to be. It's outstanding what he's been able to accomplish, and he still comes out with great albums, although I thought Sparks of Ancient Light was a little disappointing. I can't wait to see what he releases next.

Saw Al at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh recently, great set interspersed with humorous and informative monologues. Guitarist Laurence Juber (of "Wings" fame) accompanied, and played a brilliant 20 minute solo set before joining Al. One of the highlights was "Lord Grenville", one of his great "sea songs", and believe it or not a rendition of The Shadows' "Apache" - brilliant! Got my poster and CD signed and went home a happy man. A truly great songwriter, who also knows how to surround himself with sympathetic and quality musicians...

What enduring quality this guy ttruly has - every song takes you straight to 'another place' and that brushed velvet voice with just a tad of Neil Tennant floating around it makes any Al listening session a true and rare pleasure.

I saw Al two weeks ago in Natick, MA. Fantastic show. Just him and another guitarist having fun on stage. He even signed my 8-track of Time Passages, which is funny because he didn't even play Time Passages (or Song on the Radio from that album) in the set.
