Tonight's best new track was 'The World Is Theirs' by The IRS. It's the title track from their stunning debut album, out next month. This is prime hip hop, great beats coupled with killer lyrics about the real world (think Braintax rather than party rap). And they're being themselves, South London lads, not pretending to be American. If you're a fan of hip hop, I'd say this is an essential purchase this year. Get your pre-orders in now!

The best old tune was 'At Your Funeral' by Saves The Day. Did it really come out more than half a decade ago? I've been listening to this album a lot lately, and I drive round at night wailing along to 'At Your Funeral' at the top of my voice. It's simply an immensely catchy pop song.

Example - What We Made

Born into a music family, Peter Major aka Opolopo got obsessed with sounds very early and started devoting most of his time to become a musician and producer himself. Opolopo, the name which means ‘plenty’ in Yoruban, has already had an album and many remixes under his belt but what really brought him the wider respect from people like Patrick Forge, Daz-I-Kue or Kyoto Jazz Massive is his latest single, ‘Life is a Dance’ feat. Amalia released last year by the Japenese Especial Records. Peter talked to Beyondjazz about his journey so far, the forthcoming album and the buzz in ‘07.
Hi Peter, I know you were born in Hungary and now you live in Stockholm. How long have you been living in Sweden actually?
My family defected when I was two and we ended up in Sweden. So I’ve lived here practically all my life.
When did music enter into your life and how much your musician parents influenced you as a kid? Did you rebel against them music wise?
