So I worked hard and made a 10-hour long set of ambient music. As much as I would love to share it with the whole world I cannot for it has more that 800 MB and that's more than one CD and I'm not going to spend money on buying DVDs for the whole world. The least I can do is to list what I assembled so you can imagine what a delightful music it is. Lemon Jelly, Ganja Beats, Hooverphonic, I Awake, M-Sphere, Afro Celt Soundsystem, Sarah McLachlan, Krill.Minima, Múm, Subheim, Enigma, Dead Can Dance, Bonobo, Zero 7, Krusseldorf, Bebel Gilberto, Jaromír Nohavica, Nina Simone and many more.

I handed over the playlist and got the money (which is yay) and I still wait for their reaction... Which can't be negative since all the music is actually what I was asked to mix :) The few chosen ones who got my playlist during this week give me generally very positive reviews so if anyone is interested, I can always share.

Now that Last.fm has posted about the fingerprinting update there is polls open now on some artists to try and determine the correct band name so they can be merged and have the stats be more accurate.

I have a bunch of them i'd like fixed:

Afro Celt Sound System - not Afro Celts or Afrocelts. They only used the name briefly and have since gone back to the original name.

Róisín Murphy - Not Roisin Murphy which has the accents left off her name.

Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová - This is a giant clusterfuck, they have been smart to make sure the songs stream for all the variations of them collaborating together, but the stats are a mess, some are just him, some are with a "and" and some are with a "&" some have her name with accents and some with not and then all the combinations there of, what a mess.

Arcade Fire - hotly contested and the bulk of people have them as The Arcade Fire, but I have yet to see a single CD listed as "The Arcade Fire"…

Afro Celt Sound System (or Afro Celts as they are sometimes billed as) mix, as their name suggests, traditional celtic and african world music. The result is an easy-going combination, which sounds a lot less awkward than it might suggest on first impression. They've so far six albums for Peter Gabriel's Real World Records, and according to Wikipedia are by far the most succesful group of the label.

Mari Boine is a Norwegian sami artist, mixing rock and traditional sami music. The result sounds something akin to Angelin tytöt (or Angelit, as they're nowdadays known as.) Fairly ethreal and something which suits this overly dark period of year perfectly.

Masala (or Masala Sound System is like a meltingpot of reggae, hiphop and world music. I admit I've mostly listened to their Obywatele IV świata EP, which is a rather bizarre combination of something straight out of bollywood and rather tight hiphop. Most excellent, rest assured.

Not bad... :-)

Let's start with those I've never seen :
8. Kate Bush : well, obviously, she hasn't toured since 1979. :-/ I would pay quite a lot of money to see her live at least once. But I'm probably dreaming...

12. Gérard Manset : well, obviously, he has NEVER played live. And he probably never will... Too bad

16. Angelo Badalamenti : OST composer, not sure he ever played live, and probably not in Paris.

17. Nik Kershaw : I somehow managed to miss his 00's tours (never was in town when he came). Not sure he'll ever tour again, he doesn't seem to enjoy it a lot.

18. Alexandre Desplat : OST composer, not sure he ever played live

21. Wir Sind Helden : I love this band, but I don't think they ever played in Paris (but I may be wrong). I might travel to Germany one of these days to see them though. And once I'm there, I'll buy tons of board games. :-)

23. Afro Celts : I don't think they ever played in Paris (much to my despair).

First and short.

The music of a day is like the sun. Not only the light of life but also in constant change.

Cool, fresh and still music in the morning. A good choice is something like Sophie Zelmani, Afro Celt Sound System or Craig David.

Upbeat, steady and diverse during the day. Mood is in constant flux. Dark and hard metal is nice when working. Easy and happy electronica when reading and chilling. Reggae is good to just sit down and think to. In Flames, Peter Schilling or Bob Marley.

Soft, enveloping and dreamlike in the evening. As a pathway to be led down by the music is the road to the bed. Sleep it the next step of evolution. Ah*Nee*Mah, David Arkenstone or Loreena McKennitt.
