das alpha. damit began es. nicht mehr und nicht weniger. die wiedergeburtsstunde von retrorockpoppunk. bei fm4 nur auf platz zwei. beim englischen nme die nummer eins und der zündfunke zündete sie nur an platz 10. eine der wenigen plazierungen über die ich nicht lange nachdenken musste.

4. Two Gallants - What the Toll Tells - (2006) - grandioses Folk-und Drang-Album - Schmutzig, brutal und wunderschön leidenschaftlich - mitreißend, die beiden Kerle

5. Sigur Ros - () - (2003) - Die Musik ist überirdisch, machte mich traurig, weckte meine Fantasiewelt - gab mir vor allen viel Kraft

6. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois - (2005) - genial arrangiertes Meisterwerk mit unbeschreiblich schönen Klangbildern. Kraftvoll, fröhlich, nachdenklich . Banjo, Orchester - Frauenchöre - und es wird noch viel mehr geboten. Ein Erlebnis.

Time to summarise the top ten artists of my listening history. I've listened to fifteen thousand songs since joining last.fm in March 2006 - that's two years and five months, which makes about seventeen songs per day. Sounds reasonable.

I'll start from the bottom, working my way to the top from there, just like I like it. On second thought I'll make this a top 11 list, there is a reason for it.


11 - Placebo - 227 plays

I've been a fan of Placebo ever since I got a hold of their self-titled debut album
Placebo whilst living in the UK, and have bought every album since. Placebo and the follow-up Without You I'm Nothing are undoubtedly the best, although the latest Meds marked a return to form for me, even if the mood was different and painted eerier, less angst-filled landscapes.

To date I've seen them live twice, first at the Roskilde Festival in 2001, then in the Helsinki Ice Hall in the early summer of 2007.
