    Model 500

Первенцем Cybotron стал “Alleys of Your Mind” в 1981 г., записанный на принадлежащем им же лейбле Дип Спейс Рекордс (Deep Space Records).

(Richie Hawtin/Plastikman).

Последующие продукты MetroplexNight Drive(Thru Babilon)» «Interference» и «播放The Chase») тоже неплохо продавались.

808 State, A Guy Called Gerald, LFO и Black Dog произошли во многом благодаря влиянию Аткинса, а сам он был приглашен для написания ремиксов для популярных в то время Fine Young Cannibals, Seal, Tom Tom Club, The Beloved и The Style Council.

Результатом их совместной работы стали, например, “Die Komischen Kuriere” и “Jazz Is The Teacher”. В 1995 г.

В 1993 г. лейбл R&S Records[/label записал сборник Classics, собравший лучшие синглы Model 500, вышедшие на Metroplex (“播放No UFOs”, “播放Ocean to Ocean”, “播放Off to Battle”). В 1995 г. Аткинс продолжает двигаться вперед, а многие его шедевры, как, например, ремикс трека «It’s Like That» (Little Johnny) для Greyt Records Марка Тэйлора (Mark Taylor), так и не прорвались за пределы техно-сцены Автомобильной столицы.

R&S Records выпустили альбом Model 500 «Mind and Body», где треки «Psychosomatic» и «just maybe» еще раз доказывают безграничность новаторских способностей Аткинса.

  • Results of A Week

"A week" is through. Finally! Before anything I have to confess that it wasn't actually a week. It was nine days, since i started my week on sunday with the changing of the month, but Last.fm has it's own ideas of how to count weeks, so i had to extend the week for several days. I did this, so that i could have an awesome "Weekly snapshot", which you can see here: http://www.last.fm/user/celer2008/charts?charttype=weekly&subtype=artist&range=254

This experiment has led me to think that you CAN listen to bands only named this way for a longer period, IF you have a very eclectic taste of music. Since I'm more of a hip-hop head, I listened to A Tribe Called Quest more than other bands. I'm not very proud of that, but i did come to find that ATCQ is much better, than I had thought before. It actually sparked an interest to give De La Soul, Boogie Down Productions, 3rd Bass and other old-school conscious acts another try before the year 2010 kicks in.

As i listed all 14 bands like these that i had listened before the "A week" for comparison, I'm now going to generate the list again, to give you a hint of what i went through. This is, as far as i know, the most comprehensive list of these bands. If anyone finds more or even a better list, then please let me know. Before this year is through, I'm going to generate the list again. I would like to do it when six months have passed from the first "A week", but there's no point, since next year i will only listen to next year's albums (I'm a freak like that).

There's also a chance that I'll write a few words about the best discoveries of the "A week" and translate it to english for last.fm

Step One: List your top twenty five most scrobbled artists and the total number of listeners for each.

    9. Linkin Park (1,412,388)
    25. The Smashing Pumpkins (1,329,678)
    7. Fall Out Boy (1,064,738)
    21. The Chemical Brothers (1,061,558)
    3. Queens of the Stone Age (1,027,727)
    4. Incubus (1,252,850)
    8. The Prodigy (967,268)
    18. Fiona Apple (669,819)
    22. Yann Tiersen (548,355)
    2. Smash Mouth (427,428)
    15. Eve 6 (327,934)
    16. Saliva (327,243)
    14. Filter (258,886)
    13. Matchbook Romance (257,586)
    5. Michael Andrews (212,307)
    11. David Holmes (153,681)
    19. Olive (141,388)
    6. A Guy Called Gerald (81,747)
    10. The Blanks (8,371)
    12. Skybox (4,044)
    23. Little Compass (255)
    1. Andrew Pants (108)
    20. Ember Coast (91)
    17. Runaway Diamonds (90)
    24. Supafloss (80)

Step Two: Calculate the average (Total divided by 25).

    Average: 461,425

Step Three: Divide this figure by the total number of listeners for the top scrobbled artist on Last.fm.

    Top artist: Coldplay (2,325,449)
    Mainstream Percentage: 19.84%

This is obviously due to the pathetically small listener numbers for those no-name bands I love so much. Again, this would be more accurate using my Last Week top bands, as that's more reflective of my actual listening habits.

First, make a list of your overall top 25 artists. Then, for each of these artists, add the 3 most similar artists to your list. Delete all instances of bands that come up more than once, add up the number of entries on your list and this will give you some idea of how eclectic your listening habits are. A low score represents an extremely unvaried musical taste while a max 100 represents an extremely varied one.

    01. How did you get into #31?
Batter the Drag - This is one of many Flying Blanket Studios artists Kate and I adore. This one she had to convince me of, though. It wasn't instant love.

    02. What was the first song you ever heard by #22?
Yann Tiersen Whatever is the first song in Amelie, such a beautiful movie, and what amazing music. The whole CD makes you feel warm and fuzzy while driving.

    03. What's your favorite lyric by #41?
The Minibosses Not only do they not sing, but they're really not a great love of mine. They're just one of the first CDs I added, so their longevity helps their numbers.

    04. What is your favorite album by #49?
The Huskies only have the one album, The Good Fight

    05. How many albums by #13 do you own?
Matchbook Romance - Voices is the only one that I own. I haven't heard any of their other stuff, but I should, since I love Voices so much.

    06. What is your favorite song by #50?
MC Frontalot has so many good ones... 播放Braggadocio, Floating Bridge, Yellow Lasers... but my favorite will always be 播放Crime Spree, the original version with the unauthorized samples.

    07. Is there a song by #4 that makes you sad?
Incubus (my favorite band, despite their ranking) has a couple of mournful songs, but the ones that get me most are 播放Pardon Me (they mention being 23, so now that I'm older it stings), 播放Wish You Were Here (any time Kate's out of town), and 播放Nowhere Fast (reminds me of missed opportunities from my college days)

    08. What is your least favorite song by #15?
Eve 6 Actually, most of their stuff is kinda mediocre. Jesus Nitelite is particularly lame, as you can tell by the title.

    09. What is your favorite song by #5?
Michael Andrews - 播放Slipping Away incorporates both the beauty and the creepy parts from Donnie Darko in one track.

    10. Is there a song by #6 that makes you happy?
A Guy Called Gerald is kinda downtempo... not really cheery, not really sad either.

    11. What is your favorite album by #40?
Shiny Toy Guns - We Are Pilots is the only one of theirs I've heard. I don't have multiple albums from a lot of people.

    12. What is your favorite song by #10?
The Blanks Again, longevity helps their numbers, but they have some pretty good songs. It's a close race between Happy Halloween and Commandos (Attack!), both of which use the same clever gimmick.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving #33?
My Chemical Romance When I wasn't ostracized by as many people as I thought I would be for liking them.

    14. What is your favorite song by #37?
Staind Both 播放It's Been Awhile and 播放Outside are high school radio classics.

    15. Is there a song by #19 that makes you happy?
Olive is again downtempo, though to a lesser extent. Do a lot of people get happy from their music?

    16. How many times have you seen #24 live?
Supafloss I don't like live music, though on rare occasions I can be dragged to little shows. I dunno if I could handle a whole evening of Supafloss, though.

    17. What is the first song you heard by #23?
Little Compass is a Flying Blanket Studios artist that Kate has always loved, and through constant repetition of 播放Risky Business she got me to love that one song. Having the whole album for a while now, I've slowly warmed up to the rest of their stuff too.

    18. What is your favorite album by #11?
David Holmes - Ocean's Thirteen Again, the only album I've heard, and I wouldn't call it a favorite.

    19. Who is your favorite member of #1?
Andrew Pants is a one man genius all on his own. So Andrew Pants is my favorite member of Andrew Pants.

    20. How many times have you seen #14 live?
Filter I can't picture a scenario that would get me to a Filter concert.

    21. What is a good memory you have involving #45?
Blaqk Audio I recently made a friend who is a fan, but she ended up not being my roommate. So it's not a happy memory after all.

    22. What is your favorite song by #16?
Saliva The one song they're most famous for: Alive

    23. What is the first song you heard by #47?
t.A.T.u. Who knows? Whichever of their massively overplayed radio hits I heard first.

    24. What is your favorite album by #3?
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf See? Even my #3 I only have one album of.

    25. What is your favorite song by #18?
Fiona Apple Oh man. Her whole When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King... album is near perfection. 播放On the Bound, 播放Limp, 播放Paper Bag, 播放A Mistake, 播放Fast as You Can, 播放Get Gone...

    26. What is the first song you heard by #38?
Clearlake I had and loved Widescreen for about a year before I bothered to look up the rest of their music, and the way I'm addicted to it, Clearlake will be a lot higher than #38 soon.

    27. What is your favourite lyric that #21 has sung?
The Chemical Brothers This quiz keeps choosing particularly wordless artists. I think my favorite vocal sample of theirs is on 播放Under The Influence

    28. What is your favourite song by #2?
Smash Mouth Who owes a LOT of listens to their longevity in my library, has a beautiful rarely heard song: 播放Waste.

    29. What is the first song you heard by #32?
Shirley Walker Of course, the amazingly perfect Batman: The Animated Series Theme

    30. What is your favorite song by #8?
The Prodigy Probably Smack My Bitch Up thanks to it's awesome use in Charlie's Angels.

    31. How many times have you seen #17 live?
Runaway Diamonds Never, but I would actually go to see them live. Not that I'd be able to stop Kate from taking me even if I didn't want to.

    32. Is there a song by #44 that makes you happy?
ohGr Just about the angriest music in my library, so no.

    33. What is your favorite album by #12?
Skybox - Arco Iris Again, their only album that I know of. It is pretty great, though.

    34. What is the worst song by #29?
Apartment 26 Wow, they're pretty much a two hit wonder for me. They've got a particularly crap song, Evils, meant to be an interlude I think.

    35. What was the first song you heard by #34?
Dear and the Headlights Something Kate played for me over and over, probably. That girl has a good ear, though. I love these guys now.

    36. What is your favorite album by #42?
AFI Finaly someone I can actually answer thsi question for. DECEMBERUNDERGROUND

    37. How many times have you seen #39 live?
Tinfed I'd be surprised if they ever did a show within 500 miles of me during the short time they played music.

    38. What is your favorite album by #36?
Grant Kirkhope does video game music, so he doesn't get albums.

    39. What is the first song you heard by #28?
Bôa - Duvet The theme for Lain caught my attention far more than the anime ever did.

    40. What is your favorite album by #7?
Fall Out Boy None in particular. Each has a few good songs, each has a few disappointments.
