A couple of lyrics that define my youth
2009年 12月 10日, 0:28 作者:nicoinfurs
I basically grew up with hiphop, despite the fact I abandoned it (or I don't listen to it as I used to anymore) I still share an unquestionable love for it.
You shook, cause ain't no such things as halfway crooks

2Pac v. Big L
2009年 7月 22日, 6:29 作者:wutanghej
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5412/01rv6gc8.jpg
It's every Hip Hop Head's dream (sorry Biggie fans...). Tupac Amaru Shakur, the symbol of West Coast Rap and arguably the best rapper of all time, against Harlem's own legendary trash talkin' emcee, Big L. The two are featured on the track
Deadly Combination from L's posthumous release, The Big Picture, which is absolutely hot fire. My dreams, however, of this seemingly perfect track always come into question when I get to thinking: is this a genuine track? Self-proclaimed "mix king" ron g tells the listeners at the beginning of the track, "I've got something the world ain't ready for" which I realized could mean one of two things. One, he was lucky enough to become the producer endearing enough to the ears of both Big L and 2Pac and have it all be a coincidence that they happened to have verses for the beat. Or two, he used his mixing prowess from a digging session in which he got his hands on some L and Pac a cappella tracks.

Best Albums of 1995
2008年 12月 27日, 2:52 作者:cataphoresis
I've decided to cross-post my old "Best Of" lists that I had on my website retarsia.com. Here's 1995:
After the musical gift that was the year 1994, 1995 was a bit of a let down. Not exactly solid from top to bottom, it did have a couple gems. In the end, 1995 was just the bridge between two great years for music. Here's my best of 1995...
10. God Bless Satan - Mephiskapheles
Reflections: Yes, I know. You're probably wondering what in the hell satanic ska is doing on this list, but I'll tell you - it's great. This is one of the funniest albums I've ever heard, but unfortunately, it suffers from the common ska-problem of keeping up the quality through the whole album.
Best tracks: The Bumble Bee Tuna Song (a must listen)
9. Me Against The World - 2Pac
Reflections: While others probably would rate this album a lot higher than I do, I was never really a big fan of 2pac. I do admit that his lyrics are among the best ever by a rapper, and that this album is his best work. … -

2Pac: I have always considered 2pac the catalyst of my love for Hip Hop. Eminem and Dr. Dre were the popular ones when I got tuned in, but on request of a friend, I purchased 2pac's greatest hits and the rest is history. His flow is undeniably one of the best ever and his rhymes about struggles in everyday life really reach the listener in a deep way. His voice is one of a kind with its sheer power, that is forever recognizable. His final two studio albums- are his best albums All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory with intense fire and anger directed at all of his enemies at the time, as well as some of his best verses ever.
Favorite Tracks: 1. Blasphemy and 2. Changes...
1.
Temptations
2. Got My Mind Made Up
3.
Keep Ya Head Up
4. All Eyez on Me
5.
Me Against The World
Favorite Line:

one less hungry mouth on the welfare"

Such a hard choice as I love every Nirvana album. If I had to choose though it would be either Bleach or In Utero.

Hard one, as I can't remember many T.I. lyrics, but.. "Ay, What You Know About That?"
How many times have you seen #4 live?:
None... and I never will, now they split up.
What is your favorite song by #7?:
'98 Freestyle. I'm a big fan of Big L, but this track shows his true talent.
