1 Mile North - In 1983 He Loved to Fly
The only bad thing about flying is that you have to come back down to the fucking world. As the sampled voice in “In 1983 He Loved To Fly” tells us, the only bad thing about a high is that it doesn't last forever. 1 Mile North are one of the many bands in our scene who know they will never make a living out of their music, not because they're not talented enough, but because the world simply isn't ready for it. It appears that the band's two members have now pursued other careers, and the two albums they left behind stand as some of the best samples of otherworldly and melancholic ambient post-rock. In what is probably their best piece, they perfectly capture that feeling that comes with the end of something wonderful. Like the sound of the acoustic guitar and the voice of an angry young man around which the track is built, “In 1983 He Loved To Fly” becomes a distant memory that we do our best not to forget…

Filmjölk is mostly know as swedish sour milk, but Ingrid jossieaux from Mariembourg (Brussels)gave another definition to the word. I know her from the fabulous Electrobel portal. And I heard the first tracks that were bound to become her first release on the fantastic “Heldernacht” label, that was forced to end due to personal reasons. Her music instantly drew my attention because it had such a subtle but accurate soundpalette. What you get is beautiful ambient-electronica with a every now and then acoustic instruments wandering in and out of the music.

She started producing somewhere in 2006.
Learning music theory since childhood, she also plays the piano and the guitar. Music theory and history interested her that much, that she studied musicology at the university and graduated in 2007. She made her thesis about electronic music in Belgium in the 50’s.
