Madrangue I'd love to hear her doing minimal stuff. No kidding. But yeah, goth rock and jazz are styles that suit her schizophrenic vocals pretty well. Oh and about Laylania... it seems it's gonna be a live album, am I right? Now this sounds exciting.

I wish she did it (or had it done, w/e) more often. Tho I do love pretty much everything with her voice in it ^^;

@Mandrangue Yes, it is an Album. It will feature the theme song from that concert... I hope this time those 2 Italian folk songs, that she has been singing since the 3 Navigatoria concerts she made in 2005. I also miss the folk style she had before Ar Tonelico. Makeda, HOLLOW, Notte... all these are awesome

Are you sure the next album will be called Laylania? She had a concert called like this last year. Anyways, sure an exciting news! Let's hope for a good balance between experimental and folk stuff, I personally miss her early folk albums.

Yay, finally managed to access my Last FM account again. Anyway guys, new album coming in june (I think), it is called Lailania (Rairania?) I have been away of Panatela.com for a little time, so I don't have deatails.... Anyway, as far as I remember she had an public meeting in tokyo scheduled for early march, I should go search for this info.

v So true, that's what's generally enjoyable about growers. Wonder if the next album will be a concept album like Harmonia or Istoria ~Kalliope~... I hope it's gonna be more folk-ish, I like the experimental turn she's taken lately but I miss albums like Haikyo to Rakuen and Navigatoria. She needs other songs like La Corolle or Hollow.

She just released a great album with Vagrancy, give her some time. But as she's quite productive anyway... there will surely be a new album in 2012, most likely not before the second half of the year I guess, since we don't have any info yet.

Sayoshigure I recommend looking on Yahoo!Japan Auctions. You have to use a shopping service because hardly anyone will ship outside of Japan but...I have seen older CDs like Navigatoria up for sale for decent prices.

Chances are that such decisions are not up to Avex but most likely to her label, HATS. Which is a quite obscure indie label after all. Maybe they just can't afford the reprint. And I highly recommend all of you to get your copy of Raka before this masterpiece runs out of print.

Ennish Navigatoria is really hard to come by as well. I think one site is asking for $125(!) for a physical copy of the album. I don't know why Avex Trax doesn't want to reissue Shikata's work. Not enough demand, maybe?

You should investigate on Japanese sites though. I'm not familiar with them, but it wouldn't really surprise me if it was available on one of those. Akiko should have it reprinted, I would buy this great album in a heartbeat if I could get a physical copy.

thought1ess Epic! Can't find a better word do describe my first impressions of Istoria～Kalliope～. It has everything that I love Shikata's music for: fantastic melodies and astonishing compositions. With such an eclecticism she probably wanted to please everyone, both who love acoustic sides of her music and electronic. I also was pleasantly surprised by the track with electric guitar. But with all it's diversity the album sounds so natural and everything seems to be in it's place. Shikata-san made a perfect album, her most mature and solid work so far. And the book looks so amazing, I wish I could have the CD, but it appears to be a problem ordering stuff from Japan.

I've just listened to the samples from Istoria ～Kalliope～ and I'm stunned. It's too flawless to put into words. I can swear that Akiko-sama learned to play her instruments and to sing like she sings from Apollo and from the Muses themselves, she must be at least some kind of demigoddess.

It seems like all Shikata fans are diverse about her albums preferences. As for me, Navigatoria is my favorite one among her commercial albums, I like the way she uses folk and celtic motives there. I love Sorriso, Hana Kisou and Nishikaze no Okurimono most of all. What I can't fully get into is RAKA, though many fans consider it to be her strongest work. It is a great album, but I still can't enjoy it as much as Navigatoria or Harmonia.

mc08 omg I could have sworn Shikata said on her Twitter that she’ll (most likely) be at Comiket after all… anyone there on Dec. 31st will not only get to purchase Istoria ~Kalliope~ at a lower price but also meet her *jealous* Oh, and she’ll give away one glass bead keitai strap she made by hand, as her Christmas present to a lucky fan (deadline to enter is January 7th, her birthday). Knowing I won’t win anyway, I entered the draw, but at least I have a Tenso address handy. =3
