  good question, i consider math rock as *one* of numerous influences for contemporary developments in jazz, not "the" future of jazz. sure, math rock was influenced by jazz (and also by different scenes of progressive/ avantgarde/ experimental/ punk rock). it should be interesting to analyze how the influence of jazz in one "genre" feeds back into the development of jazz.
