usually i can rope my best friend into coming with me (godbless him he's put up with so much :P) but i kinda like going to gigs solo...i dunno why...i saw jens lekman by self and i really enjoyed it
i dont mind going to shows by myself cos, usually because my friends dont know the band.
its not too bad once the band starts playing, i hate it when everyone is waiting for the band to start playing and you're there standing by yourself feeling awkward cos you're by yourself
I go to a heap of gigs on my own for various reasons, sometime to see acts my friends don't like, sometimes because I'm reviewing the show and can't find anyone to drag along with me (and if you occasionally want to see a free show, add me a friend/send me a message because I get sick of wasting the ticket).
As horsebrain said above, once the music starts it doesn't become an issue. There is a tad bit of awkwardness, but I resolve that by going to the loo/buying a drink/playing with my phone, so meh :)
That being said, going to festivals on your own > going with a group of friends.
At the present moment I'm not recording, I'm not on tour, and I've never had a song go to number one on Beatport. I've never been featured on JunoDownload or Trackitdown. I've never released vinyl. But what I do know is that I've been listening to electronica for many years, and I have every right to speak my mind against the fabricated music that is being released on a daily basis. It's absolutely appalling! All these people think that if you're on the Beatport Top Ten then you're making something out of yourself well your making a mockery out of electronic music! I'm a producer, and I come from the underground, and I'm quite frankly I'm sick and tired! And I'm here to go on these rants on message boards, because I know I'll never amount to anything and I need to make myself feel better, so when I'm not high on cocaine I'll sit in front of this computer 'til the cows come home and I'll continue ranting and raving about artists that are actually living out their dream 'cause I never will!
Do it all the time. Why not? I go for the music...not to get wasted or pick up or whatever. Me missus isn't into it and the friends are just so damned hard to organise these days now we all have family. It's kinda cool, I think.I feel like the musical Lone Ranger, minus Tonto...Hey Psicosis I'm up for a freebie anytime ;)
