  The only way for people in this group to get what they want is to boycott last.fm all together and force them to change it, as they won't change it unless they can see that it is of financial benefit: if we boycott then they lose advertising. Even still, they won't care if 1,500 people stop using last.fm.

  What matters is the time that you spend listening to something. I can spend an hour listening to some of my favourite bands and only listen to 3 songs cause each one of them is 20 min long. And those 3 songs might be an entire album. And last.fm won't listen them as my favourite precisely cause I've only listened to 3 songs. ;)

  I agree with lilchamp227, we should have both. length is definitely important but sometimes track numbers counts for something too.

  The length is far more important than track numbers. Especially for bands with only lengthy songs.

  This is a great idea, I would have Opeth as my top artist and I feel that Opeth rightfully deserves it. The idea of having both length tracking and song tracking is even more interesting though.

  @Hasbox: This system isn't going to hurt short songs because you can listen to multiple short songs for as long as you can long songs and get similar results. :/

  it just made the gap between my top two artists even larger and the gap between them and other artists even larger, making me look like even more of a sad bastard who listens to nothing else :p (That's what i get for being totally obsessed with sigur rós two or three years ago and still really liking them - after all, their average track length is probably 7/8 minutes)

  The Normalisr doesn't work. Half of the bands are missing in the charts. (The lesser known bands)
