介绍:
This list is for fans of the great traditional metal bands from the United States from anytime between the 1980's and now.

This group is for fans of the great heavy metal scene that was a huge part of the US in the 1980's.

US power metal in the the 1980's to now was an extension of what the NWOBHM had brought forth. Many of the bands in the US sect were varied; there were bands that drank heavily from the NWOBHM, there were bands who took an aggressive, thrash-infused style, and there were others who tread more progressively minded waters. With the advent of the internet, as well as the metal scene's desire to document itself and its history (for better or worse), many of these bands are now seeing the light of day, for which I am eternally glad.

I encourage lively debate and discussion, however, I do have to come down on people who either don't contribute or just are around to troll. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it, hopefully you enjoy yourself and find some great bands. :)

(note: i'm looking for active users who want to contribute to the group... so if you know somebody on last.fm who is interested in discussing this style of metal, have them see if they're interested in joining up)

To friends and fans of Mark Reale and Riot, "We are deeply saddened to confirm that Mark has lost his battle with a lifelong illness. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by Mark's family, friends, and bandmates at this difficult time." Man.......I feel like shit

Hell yes, it's a great demo, the vocalist can get a little "quirky" if you will but it's overall a great demo. Not my favorite USPM demo though, Forté's Dementia By Design holds that title, holy hell, that one is amazing. If you haven't heard it, go check it out, some of the most batshit crazy Blue Collar USPM you'll ever hear tbh.

Oh yeah, Castles In The Sky is amazingly good, I had tears in my eyes the moment Tim Aymar came into the picture though, it just sounds so amazingly fine-tuned. Can't wait any longer for Bury The Light, I just can't.

John Arch is amazing, Spectre Within and Awaken The Guardian are 2 of the greatest progressive power metal albums ever!

So glad that Jon Arch still has it. Now if only he would find a project worth being in.

Slough Feg has had some inconsistent albums, but I see no weak track on Twilight of the Idols through Traveller. Which ones strike you as particularly weak? I know that Troll Pack and a couple others seemed kind of weird when I first heard them, but I totally love those now. There might be the occasional song that is slightly less memorable/noteworthy too, but otherwise those albums are really solid. Although The August Engine may still be better than all of them. Two awesome bands.

As you said, they are 2 entirely different bands, Slough Feg limps between Trad and Power with each album but Hammers Of Misfortune experiment however they like on each album, hence why I like them so much. Their last album, 17th Street, is amazing, easily one of my favorite albums yet almost nothing like, say, The Engine, for example but they know full well what they are doing and it shows. Time and again, nothing short of a masterpiece.
