介绍:
A group that consists of music enthusiasts and musicians who are lured by the sound of the trumpet in music and artists who are genuine trumpet players.

Let us NOT limit ourselves to Jazz only!

We explore what the trumpet has and can do both acoustically and electronically by sharing our favorite artists who feature the trumpet and explore tracks that include parts or solos that really stand out. In addition, we we honor the legends of this fine instrument by creating a consolidated artist connection list for all to use as a resource.

Our forums and articles are here for your resource too. Many members are expert players and knowledgeable about the instrument and many of the artists connected here so feel free to ask any questions!

Freddie has had his good years but you like that 70s cheesy string orchestration crap? Woody Shaw i the heavy weight bopper and harmonically more complex than Freddie ever was. If you want to be blown away listen to Woody Shaw Steppin' Stones Live and the Village Vanguard 1978. What I want to get my hands on is the out op print Woody Shaw and Freddie Hubbard.

On March 5th the Balkan jazz trio STriCat proudly presents it's 2nd CD Jab at the Tropentheater in Amsterdam, in a double concert with the Taraf Costel Vasilescu. Find the details of this concert here! Hope to see you there...

Great concert featuring a full horn section and of course a trumpet soloist. Frank Zappa - Imaginary Diseases - Live 1972 It's funky, bluesy, tango, rock and that element of other worldliness that Zappa always brings to the table with his compositions. His guitar solos are really stinky on this record too. Track 3 features a decent trumpet solo to and track Father O'blivion really shows his keene sense of exciting horn section harmonic composition with a nutty tuba solo.

everyone here should check out Terell Stafford, an excellent contemperary player in the hard bop style. I have an album by him called Taking Chances which is top notch, but I hear he has played with the organist Gary Versace, who stole my heart at a recent performance. If you can find the two of the together that should be stellar

To answer Fretta's shout: you should have a listen to an amazing Danish jazzish group Tys Tys (on myspace for instance). The vocalist sounds very much like a trumpet, and the unison between her and the trumpetist's playing is awesome.

If we are trying to include music that isn't jut Jazz, you should all check out George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic live at Montremx... the secnd track features one of the greatest trumpet sax battles I have ever heard... and it's followed by a hilarious cover of Get Low. Entire album is great though, one of my favorite live recordings.

I was once listening to this local Jazz station, and I heard a violin played like a saxophone, now that was something to hear!

I think it's the other way round, that the saxophone has the ability to sound like human voice very much..sometimes, at first when I hear a sax in a song, it sounds like a violin, trumpet, trombone or someone singing. Saxes can be smooth and ugly, too, but the same goes for trumpet.. But I like the sound of the trumpet, that's why I want to learn how to play it.

The sax allows for greater bursts of virtuosity, but i think the trumpet has a more interesting sound, more human. With the Trumpet there is more room to play with the voice of the instrument, as masters like Lester Bowie made all too clear.

If they are not too busy noodeling. See it takes more stamina and facial muscles to play trumpet that is why many players utilize space more. Freakin sax players can blow for 10 minutes without tiring. Miles once asked Coltrane man why do you play your solos so long? Coltrane replied I don't know how to stop. Miles replied how about try taking the horn out of your mouth.

I think the sound of a saxophone is more intriguing. At times.
