Faaip de Oaid

  • Faaip de Oaid

I know this is an album late, but i just listened to this song for the first time and dammmmnit was just insane, theres like no real word to describe that . . . i thot i was jsut gonna be one of those ambient mini tracks they have sometimes, but i was pretty mistaken lol

im sure thers a lot to say about that meaning and everything, any thoughts?

  • that album is like freefaling, makes me feel like i've been thrown really high up in the air. when the last track stops its like who ever threw me walked away and didnt bother trying to catch me. SPLAT.

im pleased 10,000 days has a more soothing closing track, its a a more frantic fall of an album (imo), i think i would have hit the ground much harder.

The first time I listened to the entire album

the silence after Triad (one of my favorite Tool songs btw) then Faaip de Oiad starts with static which builds into the random drum hits and frantic call about Area 51. It scared the crap outta me.

I usually listen to Tool before falling asleep, and the first time I heard this I was like "yay quiet I can sleep" and then some dude starts going on about aliens taking over America. Oh how I grinned.

Then I dreamt something like War Of The Worlds :3 Good night that was.

But it has quickly become on of my favourite tracks of Lateralus.

    Broshmosh FTW

that track is so different for Tool .. i know they really like to branch out with amazing tracks on AEnima like 'Ions', 'Cesaro Summability' and 'Die Eier Von Satan'; but that song is still so original .. sort of freaky as well, since some parts of the rest of the album are gentler.

Parts of it are possibly, just possibly, nonsensical knowing Maynard, probably meant to ask us to question society's constrictions on us. It is really scary if you're in the right state of mind to take it seriously.
If you like songs like that, very crazy, try reading Orwell's '1984' and Huxley's 'Brave New World'.
NIN's new album 'Year Zero' is apparently about that type of stuff as well.

Well, actually, everything said in this song is an actual phone call that was made to a radio station during a show called Art Bell. The guy was totally freaking out. Then all of a sudden, they went out of air for a couple of seconds. Supposedly, the satellite was knocked out of position. After, the guy called back saying to just forget about it; some people say this second call was not from the same guy.

Not too sure if the whole story is true, but there was definitely a call being made to Art Bell by a guy to say what is said in Faaip De Oiad.

If you look in the back of the Lateralus album, there's a line linked to the song that says: Art Bell excerpt courtesy of Premier Radio.

Art Bell is a person, not the name of the show. (The call used in Faaip de Oiad is mentioned under "Featured Callers".)

  • Cesaro Summability...its very weird, i cant listen to it...it scares me..a lot,,,the baby crying totally freaks me out...i cant stand it, but i love Ions, especially when listening to it with headphones, it feels like the electricity is going right through your head

    peace

Absolutely true. Ions with headphones. It's the only way to listen to that song, really.

  • Why the hell are you all so frightened of songs like Faaip , Cesaro Summabillity, Third Eye, etc etc ?

I find nothing scary about em. Not when i,m about to fall asleep, not when i wake up during it in the middle of the night.

"Absolutely true. Ions with headphones. It's the only way to listen to that song, really."

With a good stereo it sounds way better then with headphones.

Back on topic: Faaip is cool i don,t believe the call is actually true but i like it. It,s sort of a 4 year post introduction to Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned

Mine is squegeed quite clean, now you go ahead and try, pry open your third eye

When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself.
  • no one said anything about being scared of third eye..or cesaro for that matter, i just said i dont like to listen to cesaro...whats the problem?...and im still sticking with the headphones

  • Well Faaip De oaid is an enochian word which means "voice of god". Tool discovered it when they had a ouiji board session, and blair was talking to this supposed spirit about the release of lateralus. Faaip meaning voice, de meaning of and oaid is god. when adam asked the spirit what is the name of the singer in tool, the spirit replied blues bialo, and adam states that this is close enough to faaip and is not what he expected, as in he expected blues faaip. It is all in January 2006 newsletter on toolband.com. As far as meaning goes in regards to the song, i feel it is a warning, a warning from a man claiming to be the voice of god, "they're, they're gonna, um, they'll triangulate on this position really soon." Yes the man is only a former employee but he has a message. And as the song is entitled Faaip de oaid, as we know as voice of god, I just feel its tool doing an interpretational message from god, a joke really. But i frigin love the song.

    :D

The vocal on "Faaip de Oiad" is a recording of a call from a 1997 conversation on Art Bell's radio program Coast to Coast AM. The caller, in a frantic tone, claimed to have been previously employed at Area 51 and stated that the true nature of aliens were that of "extra-dimensional beings" that have infiltrated the military establishment and plan to destroy the world's large population centers to more easily control the remaining humans. The broadcast was cut short however, when their transmitter failed but Art Bell returned on the air with the use of a back up link system. Supposedly, the same caller called back some weeks later and claimed it was a hoax. "Faaip de Oiad" is Enochian for "the voice of God."

  • Actually you can hear the same phone call record on one song from The faceless

"Faaip de Oiad" is disturbing and funny at the same time. . . . Interesting story behind it.
