  Researcher note to self: There has been a rumour going around. It seems certain individuals accidentally overlapped the shadow of red light on to green light. It seems the result can only be described as nightmarish. Beings similar to flickers but far more devious and malevolent appear. At the moment, the lingo seems to have settled on referring to them as ‘devils’. Some claim the result is either the insanity or death of the summoner. I am uncertain as to the veracity of these claims. I have a responsibility to investigate.   The death of a flicker has never been definitively observed. Several myths exist surrounding a flicker’s death. Some claim the audience pass away along with the flicker, though that is likely untrue as there have been no documented cases of human deaths during an ember glow. Although, for the most part peaceful creatures, there have been instances where flickers appeared to display aggression towards one another. The end result is the devouring of one flicker of the other. Further research will have to be undertaken to understand the true nature of flickers.

  ...much like getting old with humans. Humans refer to newly born flickers by various names including 'suns', 'ifrits' and 'greater flickers'. The older ones are often referred to simply as flickers but 'twinkles' 'blinks' are used sometimes. Although rarely witnessed, flickers are only born when two or more flickers are engaged in an ember glow. However once a flicker is born, the newly born often give birth to their own younglings. This can lead to a series of births and an extensively and uniquely prolonged and populated ember glow. However, although certain humans claim some ember glows can seem to last a life time, they are only really entranced for a very short duration of time. A dance involving newly born flickers are notoriously known to be incredibly vivid, picturesque and emotionally-powerfully as they draw very strongly from the audience's memories. Several humans observing the same ember glow recount vastly differing experiences.

The dance consists of the flickers taking various shapes and forms that exist within the memories of the audience. They often take the shape of individuals, such as loved ones, friends or the recently deceased. They have also been documented to take the form of inanimate objects. The capabilities of the flicker seems to correlate very strongly with their age. Unlike humans, flickers are born with their greatest potential realized and then begin to deteriorate in capacity...
