The Who or Led Zeppelin

The Who or Led Zeppelin

I can't decide which one of them is a greater rock band, having in mind of course that they are both out of this world and have marked whole generations of music fans. I personally used to like a lot Led Zeppelin, but lately I've listening again to The Who and I find them just fantastic.

Probably different things need to be considered, as The Who are more of innovators and experimentalists while Led Zeppelin was the group of the masses, dominating the 70s after the Beatles left the stage at the end of the 60s.

So help me figure it out, which one deserves a higher place in rock history's greatest bands? (Of course they are both in the Top 5, but Number 1 and 2 are unquestionably The Beatles and The Rolling Stones)

The Who have always been a bit too 'different'

to achieve the same mass appeal that bands like The Beatles and Led Zep enjoyed. Not as different as, say, Pink Floyd, but I think they were certainly more innovative than Zeppelin.

I unreservedly prefer The Who, to answer your main question. The songwriting is more original, I prefer their playing styles and I think they 'click' better as a band, if you compare both groups' live recordings.

As for rock history's greatest...well, I don't like the Beatles myself, and I think The Who, at the peak of their powers, stand head and shoulders above Zeppelin and The Stones. I suspect if I were to compile my own Top 5 I'd offend a lot of people on here...

Well, given that we are in a Who group i´m gonna say The Who! Both are great bands but The Who are simply amazing! I love them!

they are so similar! Roger and Robert, both has awesome voices (and hair). Keith and Bonzo - beasts. but both died to early. John and John Paul Jones styles are also amazing. Although Jimmy and Pete are really different. Jimmy is guitar virtuoso, great producer and composer. Pete is only good in composing beacuse his guitar skills are average.
I would go with Zeppelin.

I LOVE Both Bands but if i had to choose between one or the other i would choose Led Zeppelin
